Dumbest random thought. Wat my cat roofus was doing at that moment exactly.

A couple dumb thoughts come to mind

1. I think I can make the triple, the other guys made it look easy
2. I should stand on that guy’s bike so he can get up and maybe I’ll win the championship(borrowed from 800)

Here's one from a buddy of mine: "Biggest jump on the track? I'm gonna throw a fat whip."
He did it. Almost. First 50% of it anyway, and landed completely sideways. Broken pelvis.

If I just leave the throttle pinned on my KDX 200 I think I can clear this triple....

How does that work with ZUS over there? I was there in 2012 racing OML near Lublin and I was very nervous about getting hurt. You hear all these crazy stories. Did they take care of him OK and he's all healed up now? That's a pretty serious injury.

Regional qualifier for LL, 85cc 14-15 class. Pulled the holeshot in my first moto and had a decent gap about a third into the first lap. I wasn't the best at starts and always came from behind... so I was excited and really pushing. There was a series of 4 small jumps that I had only done 2-2 but had watched some A riders launch all 4. I just went for it, wide open thinking I could flat land it no problem.

Hit the first jump, rear kicked the nose down and I went head first into the 3rd or 4th jump (don't know).

When I got up, I couldn't lift my arm and ended up with a broken collarbone. Should have been a great weekend that ended in less than 1 lap.

"If I just sneak up the inside of this chick in the last corner, I can make the block pass and beat her." Ya that didn't happen, haha! 125 Beginner racing with Shana Rhinehart(from the original Mini Warriors). Ended up coming together with her and I went down.

The guy in front looks super squirrelly, but I'll also jump the table when I'm just behind him...

5 seconds later: "Oh, there he and his bike are both sprawled across the landing area. Well shit."

Back in 88' I was doing a night race at a track I was visiting for the first time over in Alabama. A flash flood came through during the afternoon and almost submerged the track. Practice was an exercise in merely staying upright, so you didn't really get a feel for the flow of the track or the pitch of the jumps.

My moto started late in the rotation, so the track had firmed up a little, and a single line had formed where you could actually hook up. Gate drops and I grab a rare holeshot. I gapped the pack a little except for this one guy on a Kawasaki. We come around to the big (4th gear) triple on the first lap and I made the commitment to jump it. I'd seen a couple of guys in the A class do it, so I knew it could be done. I cased it but hung on.

I knew the guy on the Kawi wasn't doing it (nor anyone else in my class), because I could tell I was putting a little time on him every time we came around. He would always close back up on me through this section of rollers. I was jumping through them and he was pinning it and blitzing them SX-style. Still not sure he was hanging on. Next lap, I cased the triple again, but this time harder, I almost went down. But I knew if I didn't jump it, Kawi guy would pass me.

Here's where the dumb idea comes in: Dumb idea #1. So I remember thinking, "Next lap, why not move over out of the main line, and hit the jump face where it's still intact. I'll get more lift." The main line was rutted as hell due to the rains. So next lap, I remember coming out of the corner before the triple and moving out of the main line to the left...and going through the gears...and spinning badly. Dumb idea #2 was not to back-off even though I knew I was not hooking up.

Next thing I know, I have paramedics hovering over me. Then my two buddies came over, and I remember the two of them asking me questions. I left the track on a backboard and neck brace, and later found that I had broken my back. I rode back to Georgia in the bed of my friends RV after taking a near-overdose level of Ibuprofen for the ride home.

First race on my new 03 450. (Vet class - I had been racing a 125.) Also, a new (to me) track. Had never even tried the start in practice,my plan was to follow the pack in the first moto. Then, at first moto gate, a guy lines up beside me that I had raced several times at other tracks. He had always gotten the holeshot on his KTM 525 (against my 125). So, I get this great idea, "Not today, not against my 450." Gate drops, I get a good jump, and have a good lead. It's a long start, 4/5th gear . About the time I shifted to 4th, I realized I had no fkn idea about the first turn; how tight it was, when to start braking, etc.., only that it turned right - back onto the main track. Lost the front end. I think every rider on the gate ran over me or my bike, except for Mr KTM guy.

Going for it on a huge downhill double out of a corner that I had never attempted. I was a decent vet rider at the time but this jump was only being done by the very best riders of any age or skill level. While leading in a heated battle my adrenaline was pumping and I had been riding good so in the blink of an eye I went for it. I cased the heck out of it and literally knocked myself senseless without falling off. I lost the lead and by the time I got my wits back I had time for a last lap last ditch pass on the leader that didn't work out smile

" Ok 3 turns left take this dude out........." Take out occurs but I also go down. He gets up faster and still beats me. Ive never taken anyone out since that was 11yrs ago. Other than that I talk to myself the entire time with reminders to breathe and relax and by the time I do either the race is over haha.

This will show my age. First race in 1972. Wore tennis shoes because I didn’t have any boots of any kind. Tipped over in a sandy turn and the bike was laying on me and when I pulled my leg out my shoe slipped right off. Being that I was in the middle of a race I got on my bike with one shoe and one sock and finished the moto. Thank god for rubber pegs back in the day. After the Moto a flag kid ran over with my shoe and gave it back to me so I at least had something to wear on the way home

It’s funny I have a hard time remembering what I ate for breakfast but I can still picture that day in my head as clear as can be

Thought my steering stem bearing were locking up. Bike was turning like a bmx bike with a too tight headset. People were blowing right past me i was so pissed off. After the race i realized my transponder had spun around on my fork and was catching my frame.

Raining and muddy I taped an old lens to my visor. Got a bad start and decided to duck my head going in to a corner a few corners after the start to not get roosted. As soon as I ducked my head a few bikes piled up in front of me and I didn't see it. I ended up on the ground also and decided, going forward, I should only rely on the visor extender when I'm OUT of tear offs and not to preserve them.

When I was heading toward a double and I saw a woman on the side of the track waving her arms not to jump and I just pinned it and jumped anyway. Luckily I missed the guy who was down (who was probably her son or husband). I always felt bad about that because it probably scared the hell out of her, but it was a snap decision.
