I have been out of motocross since 93. What's the longest lay off you guys had and the most difficult to get back. My fear is not making all the jumps at the track. Once you go to woods racing you get the mindset that wheels are to stay on the ground. My goal is to get into the Vet B/C class at LL. Any help will be appreciated.

I was off from 88 to 05 and when my kids started racing thought I had to come back to. It all comes back pretty quick really only thing is it takes ALLOT longer to heal. after breaking my wrist came back again. then broke collar bone came back again. knocked self out in hard wreck decided to retire. always said when my kids could beat me I would, but it came a little early. D ran 4 seconds a lap faster than me this year at our home track, so I guess it was time anyway. good luck. keep it fun. I think part of my problem was I took it to serious, but that is also the nature of it.

From 94-99 then stopped completely ( Father had cancer I spent all the time I could with him) until 05 . I have hit a few woods races here and there since then. No mx at all.

The most likely place to get hurt is on a jump or whoop section ... so just take it easy and work your way up from the little stuff to the harder stuff.

I was off completely for about 4 years racing nothing heavier than downhill mtb bikes and it's the jumping that suffers most. I still only get to ride 2-3 times a year on my friend's 250 smoker, and even it feels like a heavy tank to me.

I just do the easy to medium jumps and take it easy on the big stuff or being a hero in the whoops. Usually about the time I start feeling good about the track and going for it on bigger stuff I am starting to hit the wall physically. Just hard to stay in riding shape if you're not on a bike regular.
