Watching old races and I forgot how smooth he looked relative to other riders. At 10:40 in the video below he is on his game. He ends up making mistakes but his riding style is awesome.

Johnny O was a superstar for sure... I love how he burst on to the scene.

When I moved a few years ago, I found an old autograph card Johnny Signed for me at the San Diego Supercross in either '89 or '90. The guy was definitely one of the smoothest to ever throw a leg over a bike.

Check out Gary Bailey's YouTube channel. He has a couple of videos of David and Johnny O playing in the hills around Hondaland on their works bikes. The suspension will make anyone who's ridden a modern bike cringe, but the riding is really fun to watch.

I think the 89 SX season may have been different if O”Show”s steer stem does not break... he looked great on that bike

Johnny and David Bailey were close friends and practiced together all the time...under the watchful eye of David's Dad, Gary Bailey who was all about a smooth riding style. I'm not saying Johnny's style wasn't naturally that way to an extent...but I'm sure riding with David and having that kind of training played a part.

I remember when he first showed up at Saddleback with that bike and kit - so next level. I seemed like just the year before he was racing with AME at Escape Country as 100 or 125 Int. with Al Baker jerseys.

Such a great time for the sport.
