This is part one of my two-part series covering the history of Honda's iconic two-stroke racer the CR250. Introduced in 1973 as the CR250M Elsinore, the CR remained the leader of the Honda motocross lineup for more than three decades. In 2007, Honda finally retired the CR when they converted to four-strokes fully for their entire motocross lineup. This first installment is going to cover the model's history through the 1970s and 1980s. I'll be posting Part 2 covering the 1990s and 2000s next week.

Great video and looking forward to part 2. I have CR's in 74 (125), 75 (15), 79 (250), 86 (500), 88 (250). and then nothing but Suzuki's in the 1990's because I couldn't stand the CR hammer forks. I rode RM's in the 90's because much better suspension and decent motors, along with a best friend who worked for Suzuki Japan who got me nice discounts. I also switched to an RM 250 in 1976 for one year for the same reason of the far better suspension and a very good motor, until Honda came out with the famous 78/79 Red Rockets. I didn't return to Honda until I bought a 2001 CR250R. Honda didn't learn how to valve a fork until 2002, though.
