The Dungey/Bowers Double Standard

I find it interesting that most people are giving Dungey a complete pass for what happened with him and Stewart at A1, when many people blamed Bowers (at least partially) for what happened with Webb last year.

1) Stewart and Webb both cut down pretty hard on the exit of the turn.

2) Dungey and Bowers both cut to the inside, but Dungey cut to the inside much harder.

How is it fair to blame Bowers, and not blame Dungey?

You honestly think Dungey was intentionally aiming to take Bubba out? It was a racing incident - wrong place, wrong time. End of.

Both Webb / Stewart squared the corner up too sharp in traffic and Dungey / Bowers we're left in positions unable to stop in time.

Both racing incidents – move on.

+1

It's racing. If you switch lines in traffic you run the risk of being nailed. As you say, move on.

Didn't the Dunge a long long time ago train at stews ? I wouldn't think that he just thought "lets take this dude out". Dunge is above that Friese frame of mind.

Vital news is 100% true 30% of the time.

Neither Bowers nor Dungey intended to cause those incidents. Both were purely racing accidents. But I agree that everyone was whining and crying when Bowers did it, saying he did it on purpose because of his past 'rough riding' reputation in AX.

It was an out of control block pass....y'all just aren't used to seeing Dungey race that hard! It's the new Dungey, going to the front, over you, threw you, somehow getting there. He was 6" from getting hurt himself.

Calling what Bowers did a "racing incident?" Give me a fuckin break, the guy made his career by smashing into people.

Just add it to the huge list of times that Dungey has railroaded someone in a turn blink

I'm a Dungey fan and will admit that it was 100% his fault. I really don't think he ment to do it, but it was his fault. just like when you nail the back of a car when they slam on their brakes, you may not of meant to do it, but it was your fault.

Saying it was Stewys fault because he cut down is completely retarded, he had the point so line choice is his. Look past your bias and see it for what it was, a racing incident that was Dungeys fault.

how was dungey suppose to stop? he came up short on the intro to that turn.. trying stopping on your front brake alone at the speed these guys go? then try to blame somebody.. shit happens, get over it people.

I wonder if Pieck would try to punch bowers like Friese. Be a good one!

In the replays, you can see Dungey moving his head backwards, like he is trying to avoid what he is about to hit. Bowers is straight up shoulder checking Cooper.

Yes... I remember all those aggressive moves, especially the ones where he was looking not to win but to get revenge.. I feel for Trey this weekend. wink

Been watching since 2010 and I assumed the US motocross fans loved these takeouts.

Yep, all those races settling for 2nd and 3rd are really haunting him now. To do that, you clearly have to take some people out. grin

How many times has Dungey taken another rider out? It's just like here at Vital.... If you have a reputation for causing shit and have been clipped for it, you'll have a much shorter rope....

|

The message posted above is most likely my opinion and shouldn't be taken as fact....

Maybe some of you would get a thrill watching a merry go round. But this is supercross damn we need to poll how many on vital sit down to pee.

|

1/12/2016 8:21 AM

You know who the ones are who aren't giving Dungey a "complete pass"? It's the same people who have a long history of not really liking Dungey to begin with. Anyone who doesn't have the blinders on can see that it was a racing incident, and those who would be harsher on Bowers do so for a very good reason: Bowers has a history of questionable moves and Dungey doesn't.

|

1/12/2016 8:24 AM

Both were racing incidents
