Just looking at the topic Guy B just posted about Roczen and I got thinking about his bike change and weather he is more comfortable on the Zuk? And do you really believe that "The Bike" makes a difference at the level that these guys are at? Would Dungey (for example ) be doing as well if he were on a different bike?

Of course it makes a difference. Lap times are off by only seconds.

Is this really a question?

RV got his 2012 KX450 at Unidilla in 2011 and went from parity with Dungey to relative domination from that point on ... so, yes, I think a bike can make a different at their level.

Roczen will have a chance in the outdoors to redeem himself and only time will tell if dropping Aldon Baker and switching to Suzuki was the best move career wise.

We do know RD5 loves that new KTM.

Just because you're winning, doesn't mean you love what you're riding. Dungey might, but he strikes me as a person who never settles & is always looking for ways to improve.

I think Roczen looks more comfortable on the Suzuki, but who's to say he wouldn't be just as comfortable on the new KTM.

The smallest changes make a big difference at the top level. I remember years ago when Honda was having some handling issues, Windham tried a head stay that made a night and day difference.... Most average riders wouldn't even notice if it was completely missing.

Who's to say he wouldn't have had these problems if he were on a ktm? I think he was looking good on his rm till he cased that jump. From there on out it was a struggle for him. I'm guessing it's just a run of bad luck. Shit happens.

I think he's more comfortable on a team where he is the #1 guy. It has to be awkward sharing a team bus and being around some guy all the time who is your biggest competition.

Was that the year of the Chadapult? If so I think I remember. Didn't they bring the bike out early for him or something like that?

Yep... 2012 or not, Chad was doing damn well till that crash. Bummer

Edit: 2012-was referring to RV's frame

It's funny that it only took about 2 months for us to go from K-Roc winning the championship to is the Suzuki a good move for him

I was using Roczen as an example only, my thoughts are mainly thinking about how much the mental might play into it? Roczen rode and won on Suzuki before so would he have a confidence in the bike that he might not have had if he had switched to a different brand?

2010 The dunge won a championship on a Suzuki, Switched to Ktm and won multiple championships.. The bike makes no difference at all, they can all be set up exactly the same way. I mean look at MC2. He rode every brand bike there is.. And he did well on all of them!

Multiple?? He won one in 2012 in MX. I think the bike matters more in sx, where more precision is required. You cannot say his sx results haven't suffered since 2010. Now that KTM has done a complete redesign, he's finding success again. The bike matters. MC2 didn't do nearly as well on suzuki and he did on honda/yamaha.

I would love to have seen Kenny on the new KTM. He looked good on the Suzuki when he was ripping it. However, there's not a doubt in my mind that the new Orange bikes are a superb.

It's Suzuki's fault he was leading the points and cased a massive triple.

Very good point. That bike changed the entire dynamic of the Ryan v Ryan rivalry.

At that level they feel the differences in a few clickers on suspension or grip on certain brand of tires n shit. Imagine hoping bike to bike to bike what they feel.

On my end however, someone could let out the clickers full stop and let most of the air out of my tires while I was off taking a piss. It'd take me about 3 laps to figure out something went somewhat wrong with the bike GrinningGrinning

No. Look at the vast difference in Stewart's performance on a Yamaha vs not a Yamaha

Wrong.

MC wouldn't have switched to Yellow, if the 1997 CR didn't matter to him.

He would have kept conventional forks, and then stayed on suzuki if it didn't matter to him.

Also, he wouldn't have sucked on the KTM if the bike didn't matter.

You should probably re-read what he said and what I said, because you are agreeing with me.

Yeah I agree with you. Didn't mean to reply to your comment!
