Year after year we watch as the smaller jockeys get the holeshot.
This year it's Plessinger, prior years Malcolm and many others.
MXA interview:
"Have you ridden a 450 much since joining Star Yamaha? I ask, because it seems like a bigger bike may suit you. I love the 450. I rode one every Thursday before every outdoor in 2015. I feel that riding a 450 during the week makes me a little bit better rider. I can handle the 450 better. I rode a 450 a lot in my amateur career and always did well on one. I like it, as it’s a little bit bigger and a lot faster. I can actually throw one around pretty well. I like the 450 power!"

The Shop
1 class for pros, run anything you want, elimination format starting with 80 riders.
I'm a Plessinger fan and would love to see what he could do in the 450 class. But I think he will get similar starts on the 450.
Pit Row
I'm a clydesdale as well and I'll tell you now, I'm at a big disadvantage when I'm testing a 250 amongst 140 pound riders!! Anyone who thinks otherwise is full of shit! 250f barely moves me around the track and I would definitely not want to hit technical rhythm sections on any track with one. Those bikes feel to bogged down for me at my current weight
Buuuuut, we still race them and know what we're getting into. Yep, the heavier you are, the more power you need and SX for anyone weighing over 160lbs is going to be tough on a 250 but you've gotta make it work. Plessinger is doing a solid job as did Malcolm Stewart last season and Travis Preston back in 2002 when he beat James straight up in the 125 West championship.
Starts are very dependent weight, but that's not the only factor. Plessinger definitely needs to work on his starts. He can do much better than he has been (and I would be surprised if a few 450 teams are not looking at him. I believe he will be a very solid 450 rider).
The tractive effort or force between a wheel and the surface can be expressed as
F = μt W
= μt m ag (1)
where
F = traction effort or force acting on the wheel from the surface (N, lbf)
μt = adhesion coefficient between the wheel and the surface
W = weight or vertical force between wheel and surface (N, lbf))
m = mass on the wheel (kg, slugs)
ag = acceleration of gravity (9.81 m/s2, 32.17405 ft/s2)
A little tall i guess
But i dont see his size or weight being hindering
How much does he way ?
