Seriously, how is this even "challenging" for Herlings? Its not even a race...and hasnt been for a LONG time.
Athlete's have different ways of interpreting the dynamic between competitive rank and competitive challenge. At some point, it connects to the athletes source of motivation. Is he internally motivated, seeking some intrapersonal reward gained from this competition? Or is he externally motivated, seeking the glory of his stature amongst his competitors who others have deemed his "peers," which surely seems to be a generous term. The tricky thing about those 2 source of motivation, regardless of what serves the athlete best today, in this competition, is the long-term affects. Those who are externally motivated--for example, compete in a sport for the money or fame--tend to lose that motivation over time and are more affected by "bumps in the road." Internal motivation is pure, non-dependent, and a vital (see what I did there?) component of any "all-time great" regardless of sport.

They are not used to it. It`s never this hot and most importantly never this humid in Europe.

I have a hard time believing that JH would dominate Webb and Martin like he's doing with these GP guys

Did one of them get run over on the floor ? That would be my luck. Fall off due to exhaustion then get run over

holy crap, are they going to have to cancel the second motos? These guys are spent.

Not a knock on euro riders, these are extreme conditions. Like freestone, maybe worse and these euro guys never have to deal with this.

Back in 2007 I did a WORCS race in Havasu in march and it was unseasonably warm. 100 degrees and we traveled from utah. I was spent and we had to carry our buddy to the truck and he went in for an IV. Ryan Hughes won that day and he ripped his helmet off and puked after the finish.
