My son and his friend test rode a TM 125 this past weekend and that's all I have heard about since. They both said the bike was faster than the mod KTM and YZ 125. It has a little less bottom but hit hard in the mid and revved to the moon. They also raved about the handing and the suspension worked really well though it was sprung a little stiff. They couldn't stop grinning after riding the bike.

I was a little skeptical about the exotic bikes but it looks like there will be one in a garage in the near future.

Ralph Schmidt moved to the states to promote the TM brand and has solved any parts issues. There are also several aftermarket companies making parts and several parts cross reference from the jap bikes.

My friend is buying a TM 125 for his son after this weekends test ride. It is supposed to arrive next Wednesday.

I'm interested in reliability, I would love to race a TM, but when I asked my buds in Italy they said they were good bikes but didn't hold up well

Few years old but I just picked up Cams 250 MX last weekend. Really looking forward to putting some time on it and setting it up. I'm coming off 3 06 RM 250s and a 13 250 SX.

I rode one in 2001 and it made my new cutting edge 2001 rm 125 feel really slow. Like you're saying it was soft on the bottom and came on like gang busters. Motor and ohlins shock stood out to me.Sweet bikes. Not sure you can even race them at lorettas if that is a concern?

i have a 2012 300, it gets washed and ridden, and hasnt missed a beat , doesnt get ridden hard, but it was before i got it.. the 3 300 SMX's we have run, one seized cos we had it too lean on a fast track, other than that, nothing in over 100 hours across the 3 .

I figure it will be a good practice bike to keep me in shape for racing my Cagivas in your old Sinisalo pants!

I have to go back to oral surgeon in June so he can take a lot at his jaw and how everything is healing. At that point they will decide to move forward with the bone graft and tooth implant or wait until he is older. He just turned 15 and they may have to wait until he is 18. If we need to wait he will start riding again ASAP. If they want to move forward with the surgeries I will wait until that is over and then return. It will require 3 surgeries and healing time between each operation. This weekend was just a test ride on the TM.

Yes they are homolgated. They won the supermini class last year and placed 2nd in 250C on a 125. The kid would have won but crashed in a moto

I have talked to the parents and that doesn’t seem to be an issue. The build quality is superior for sure. Though my friend just ordered his yesterday for his son and he is very particular. If they have issues I will most definitely hear about it.

Damn, sounds like a bad one. Best wishes for your son to heal up. My guess is he will like the TM. If you can, have him ride it back to back with another 125. The grass is always greener when you try something new..

He knocked 4 teeth out and broke his jaw on New Year’s Eve at WW Ranch in FL. They saved 3 teeth but the bone was crushed so they couldn’t save the 4th one. He is back to normal except for a missing a bottom tooth. It could have been worse but his braces held the teeth. Like I said we will know more when I go back to the doc.

I can tell you the bike is badass! My friends son had a brand new Modded YZ 250 and was cutting faster laps on the TM. He is a very picky kid and he absolutely loved the power and handling. I will keep everyone posted on the reliability etc. I wanted to have the first one in the area but at least my buddy is the ginea pig. Though I think it’s going to be s great bike.

X2 on the last sentence. I had my transmission take a crap in 2006 on my 05 kx250f at a trans-cal final showdown. I was able to ride a friends brand new 06 crf250. That weekend I felt awesome and the bike felt great. I loved it that weekend. We fixed my bike a few weeks later. Rode a Honda another 06 Honda a while later and hated every bit of it. It was nothing like my KX. Glad I didn’t try to make the switch for good.

Looks good with your numbers on it!

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. It’s nice to know that it went to someone who knows how to take care of a bike.

I found tacos in Omak, BTW! It was a great day!

Sorry to hear, hope he recovers fully. What kind of helmet was he wearing? Curious, what type of hit causes a broken jaw? My son broke 2 lower front teeth last month with a 6D helmet , endo’d over a rutted jump, still can’t understand what he hit them on...

No, they are not. That is why they cannot race in SX or outdoors.

They are eligible for amateur racing but they aren’t homologated.

Amateur and pro racing homologation requirements are not the same.

I was at home in TN so I didn't see the crash. From what I was told he clipped a high speed jump and cartwheeled. The bike landed on top of him and the crossbar pushed between his helmet and chin in an upwards motion. We questioned if he would have been wearing a mouthpiece if it would have helped but with the way he hit the result would have been the same. Outside of the jaw/teeth he didn't have a scratch on him. He was wearing a JUST 1 helmet but we are switching over to new LS2 Subverter. Though the result would have been the same with whatever helmet he was wearing. It was the way he hit.
