Theoretical question for the Vital crowd. How much would you pay for a day of riding with your buddies to be able to test all the new 450s...or 250s??

So that could be there too? I just think it would be awesome to take a few buddies and spend a day or the weekend testing whatever new MX bikes you wanted. How much would that be worth? whether you are buying a new bike or not this year. Even if you only buy a bike every 4 years, if you could test them all every year wouldnt it be worth a bit.

What I really want to throw a leg over is a TM. Of course I would want to test ride either the 125 or 250 smoker. As far as the Jap/Austrian bikes go....I would probably pay a solid 300 for a full day of test riding. Only if it was test riding on a killer track though.

I’m right there too. I’d pay $250 for 5 hours on a track with the 6 new 450’s

So how much would you pay to test ride an alta against a 250 4t and a 450 4t?

Or you could ride them for free at an OEM demo day. This is what you're competing against and how are you going to get every OEM to bring bikes.

Freshly prepared by a truly exceptional Pro-Mechanic?
KTM
Husqvarna
Honda
Kawasaki
Suzuki
Yamaha

I'd pay $250-400 at an excellent track if all I have to do is show up w/my gear bag.

Not much, probably wouldn’t be too enjoyable unless it was fully set up for me. Could you imagine trying to ride Bubba’s bike at low speeds?

I've done that & more often than not it's not right for the average guy. ESPECIALLY Supercross set-ups.

To answer your question in the 450 category:

To ride the equivalent of the 6 factory bikes that're out there...I'd say it's worth about $1,500 to $2,000 for a ride day if there's say 6 people doing the riding. Yes, that's $9,000 to $12,000 for the day when you add it all up. You're talking about bikes that are worth about $30K or more EACH & it's very expensive to keep 'me fresh, too. If you're truly doing things at the Factory level...you're throwing out A LOT of parts at a much higher frequency than most people would believe. Start with tires...for example...they'd be swapped out during the ride day. Clutches probably, too. Etc., etc., etc. ...

I can't even imagine how tired I would be after that... LOL. But it would be one awesome time, and I would be down for a 250 price point for the big 6, plus the latest electric bike.

6 fresh 450s, opportunity for a good moto on each, on a nice track?

I'd fork over $300, probably.

And hope I wouldn't twist an ankle first moto.

I’ve thought about setting up shootouts for the consumer. I’d pay $200-$300.

It would be cool if dealers got involved and gave the rider a discount if they bought a bike, they could help with parts and maintenance costs.

The problems I came to were fuel prices, maintenance costs, track fees, insurance and liability.

How are you going to get that many people in one place. Twenty people on here saying $200 does not mean 20 within driving distance for such a day.

I would love to test ride a 350 Husky/KTM. 450's are out of both my risk and skill bracket at this point. Sure they might be easier to ride but grab a little too much in the wrong circumstance and shit goes bad real quick.

Not the 350. This is and how heavy the 450 feels are the 2 reasons I haven't moved up.

I like the concept and I'd pay $50 for a 1/2 hour on the bikes I choose. You can only ride so many in a day for any length of time, and some don't interest me at all, like 250's.

On a similar no business prospect, what if a bunch of riders were willing to bring their bikes and try each others during the day?
