I'm sure there are some 40+ year old riders in here dealing with tennis elbow.

I've seen the youtubers, done the PT exercises and stretches, bands, rest, topical creams, ice/heat etc... with virtually no success. It went away on its own after 2 years but now... 4 years later, it is back.

Anything that worked for you personally? I'd appreciate a reply.

Hanging from a pull up bar everyday has helped me a lot.

I had golfer's elbow not that long ago. I tried everything....topical oitments with CBD, anti-inflammatory medicine, ice/ heat, not using it, etc. Finally my doc gave me a shot directly into the area and it went away. Get the shot!!!

Had it a few years ago, couple of tries with cortisone then a physio told me to try ‘waiters tip’ stretch and try and build up stretch, he said that couldn’t do any damage but be patient and not go to far to start with and feel for signs of improvement. Worked for me

I have some screws and a plate in the left elbow. I broke a little process off the joint about ten years ago.
I don't have any pain and have full range of motion thanks to aggressive physical therapy and I think staying fit helps a ton.

I think all the muscles around it tend to support the joint better if they're fit and strong, then that leads to less pain.
That may or may not be correct, we're all different and our injuries are all a little different.

Gotta let those tendons heal and then eliminate the issue that aggravates them. In my case, it was primarily an improper desk/chair set-up.

The only way to truly get rid of tennis elbow is to work the opposing muscles that are weak and do not get used. That’s the point of the ball. If all you do is grip and close the fist and do no exercise where you flex the muscles open everything else is pretty much a bandaid until you irritate it again.

KT Tape helps massive, supports and assist muscles during movement..

I agree with this method, it also works if you find you have sore knee tendons, strengthen the quads and hammies, pain goes away

I only got tennis elbow from Squash rather than motocross, but it did mean problems riding my bike.

Also the forearm straps help a bit as well ..like these Tennis Elbow strap

I'm 59 and get tennis elbow two or three times a year from riding off road. My orthopedic doctor recommended the aircast. With some instruction you put it with the inflated part over the tendon area and it takes all the pressure and most of the pain away. You still need time to recover but it makes the recovery more bearable. It worked for me.

Thai Therapeutic massage. I just went through this. It is going to hurt so bad but when they are done after 2-3 sessions the pain will be gone. CBD also helps but it is a suck injury.

Work on loosening your traps and neck. I've tracked a lot of tennis elbow, or general elbow pains to peoples traps and neck. If you have a desk job, or are hunched forward a lot, I would be willing to bet this is your issue. Worst case scenario, I'm wrong and you'll be able to move your neck around more freely. Best case scenario, you'll have what I just mentioned and no more elbow pain.

Voodoo floss. I had tennis elbow for 6 or so months. Tried everything and nothing working. It got so bad I couldn’t lift a jug of milk out of the fridge. I stumbled on to voodoo floss and was skeptical, but thought what the hell. After first treatment incredible results. I used it several times a day and within 2 weeks it was totally gone and hasn’t come back - it’s been 18 months now.

Google voodoo floss tennis elbow and learn about it. Basically, it breaks up scar tissue, flushes out fluid and then - upon release - gorges the area with fresh red blood cells and healing begins.

Edit: forgot to mention get the theraband flex bar and do the exercises with the voodoo floss band on. This is key.

When I ride with those on they always end up on my wrists....tapered forearms and all.......I just use support wraps on both of mine and that seems to help with the pain.....retain the heat...

I did high rep low weight curls, reverse curls and a few others. It too time but it went away and I haven't had it but once.

yes that true, I also have small wrists and big forearms so I did use some strapping tape to help them stay in place

Funnily enough, they did not slip when I played squash (despite the sweating), but then they are not subjected to constant jarring and vibration, etc

Get one of those rubber twist bars and you can do negative wrist curls (reverse or normal depending on if you have tennis elbow or golf elbow) with them without doing the positive.

I use the Green Theraband FlexBar.

Cured my tennis elbow in a matter of a few weeks.

I had in both arms and had to stop riding. I’m a plumber and could hardly work. I used those wraps on both arms to make it through the days. I had to hold a glass of milk with both hands.
I saw every Dr I could. Was told I needed surgery and new job. Nope can’t do that. Had Cortisone shots and worked at first but then stopped working. Had injections in my neck being told pain was traveling down.
I finally saw a what I call a voodoo Dr and she did acupuncture while shocking at the same time. It worked and hurt like hell😂

Love this thread. Ive been fighting that stinkin' elbow issue for a decade. It can take a entire year to get better, then outta nowhere you can reinjure the damn thing doing something strenuous and here you go again, cant even lift a full cup of coffee off a shelf with that arm.

Im gonna get that Voodoo band and that flex bar, put in the work exactly like instructed for a few weeks and report back my results.

1) Ice and a lot of rest initially to get rid of inflammation. 2) Retrain/train the muscles around the area to gain strength. 3) Always stretch before use (fire up the muscles)

Lots of other good advice in this thread. But it just comes back to basics.

I had tennis elbow pretty bad, could barely move my fingers. Specialist did test failed them all. Had surgery 1 incision On outside of elbow, worked on ligaments for fingers and drilled holes in the bone. Hardely any pain afterwards. The other incision is your funny bone nerve, surgeon said I have the most active nerve he ever saw. So he worked on it for 2.5 hrs, way too much. 24 hrs a day for 2 months the nerve pain was a 10. Painkillers did nothing, far worse pain than broken back, acl. 3 months after surgery You can,t rip a sugar pack in 1/2. 8 yrs later pinky and next finger threw the hand into the wrist is numb. Prednisone is the strongest antiflamitorty there is, caution this stuff will get you wired bad. But works great, celebrex was great too, but people bled to death on it.

The straps and these types of wrist stretches are the only things that helped me get rid of it in both arms......

If you're on a computer a lot - switch the hand you use the mouse with.
Tried several purported remedies while suffering miserably for 5-6 months a couple years ago - that was the fix.
Took 7-10 days to get proficient with off hand & about 4-5 weeks to experience complete relief.

Sorry not celebrex, vioxx I think it was called. When Ryno raced the ktm 125 with broken leg, espn interview he said taped the leg up and took vioxx. You have to eat a lot of solid food, before taking it. Or it will burn a hole inside ya.
