Definitely a surprise, he looked really comfy and fast. Good for him.

I was very happy to see him up front. It's obvious he still has work to do but that being said, the podium may be all it takes to give him a shot in the ass to win.

Nice, if he backs it up next week that bike is his all season

Stoked for Barcia! He seemed humble tonight. I hope he pushes for wins every week.

Glad to see him out front. But he does not look like he has the speed to move through the pack. He got a good start and hung on.

I wonder what they do, can they bench Milsaps all year. Running 3 bikes is still a hell of a lot more expensive than running 2 and paying a small additional salary for Barcia(I don't think he has any choice but to take whatever they can come up with to keep him).

I'm stoked for him as well. He seems to have a fire lit under his arse. He could improve on cornering speed though. Yamaha should definitely consider extending his contract if he does well next week too. I think Barcia will be a better fit in terms of finishes and consistency compared to millsaps
in my opinion.

Props to JB. Been a lot of haters lately.
Not a lot of haters. Just people lost faith in him due to his results the last couple seasons. People are justified thinking he would never fight for wins again.

Like maybe the money they are paying RV2?

I was hoping he could hang on to the lead, trying to work out the math in my head.....

He didn't exactly drop anchor after Musquin or Anderson got by, which I was a little worried about. Hopefully this gives him a big shot of confidence and he ends up moving up a step or two in the coming weeks!

It's going to get VERY interesting if...

Justin continues to be the fast guy over at Monster-Yamaha.
Justin continues to run upfront.
Justin continues to give EXCELLENT interviews.
Justin continues to beat the hell outta A LOT of guys that're suppose to be chasing podiums.

Let's hope it gets VERY interesting, then! A healthy, happy, hungry Barcia is definitely makes for good, entertaining racing.

I'd love to see him reel off a win or three to get himself back on track.

Am I the only one who still occasionally reads Barcia as rhyming with Garcia rather than Marcia?

I know it’s only one race (the points paying opener at that), but was wrong on almost all accounts:

- Did not think KROC would be fast qualifier or top 5 in main - WRONG
- Did not think Baggett/Tickle would be out of the top 5 - WRONG
- Tomac easy podium - WRONG

- But, most surprising by a long shot. Barcia! Good for him and good for Yamaha. He’s covered all of these riders at one point or another in his career. Wish him well, these kind of stories are great for the sport.

I think the most impressive thing about his third is that it was a SMART third, he could have rode harder but he would be uncomfortable going that fast at this point, so if he can go for a thirds and take wins where it is SAFE to do so, i certainly believe he could be a title contender

He stayed with ando all the way. Only lost by 4 seconds I think which is super impressive since Barcia hasn’t been good in SX since 2014.

I was impressed by his interviews also (Heat win/ 3rd main). Sounded humble.

If he keeps this up; I expect him to stay on the bike through the entire SX season (and rightfully so).
