5'10" 190. Not beefy haha. Average strength if I had to guess.
Don't know your body composition, but, at 190, you should be able to throw a 450 around pretty easily. Might be worth trying!

IMO any other 450 will not wear you out significantly less, a 250 or 350 will get what your looking for. I went from a rmz450 > 350 sxf > KX250 when it gets here. 350 kinda bridges the gap it has 250f characteristics but still definitely feels heavier/more tiring than a 250

How is the bottom on these and any reliable mods if they aren’t great?

My 2020 crf250 is by far the best bike I've ever ridden. I rode the '17 as well and the 2020 is a huge improvement over the previous generation. The confidence I've gained on it compared to my previous bike has seriously improved my riding

In most situations it wasn't a problem. The bike took a ton of effort to corner. Like it would fight me trying to get it to turn. I think that's a normal characteristic of that generation YZ. The bike to me felt heavier then it was if that makes sense.

The new 21 kx250f has peaked my interest too. I really liked my 15 kx250f. I wonder if the fit an finish is any better in the newer models.

I think for 2021 the best choice would be the new 250 kawi and the updated 250 yzf.

Then 2022 i expect a lot from the new 250 honda.

By the way if i can help, i went from a 250 sxf to the last gen 350 FC (with factory Kyb fork and shock and lot more other mods), well i miss my 250 and the way it handles ! The power is plenty enough on the 250 nowadays (except the zook and the crf down low) and the bike is that much more fun. So i will probably go to a new 250f by the end of the year (probably the new kawi)

By the way it would a stupid move to buy a 250 crf when the new model is going out next summer ! Except if you don’t care about loosing a bit of money on re sale

I didn't think about that with the honda. I know in 2020 they added a new frame and changed the motor up a bit. Is it 100% going to be a new bike next year?

Nothing is ever 100%. I wouldn’t let the future stop you from getting a CRF250. If that was the case, I’d still have the first iphone.

Honda's production cycle has always had the 250 following the 450 the next year, so because the 2021 450 has major changes, it is pretty much a given the 2022 250 will get the same/similar updates

Great analogy! Laughing Absolutely loved my iPhone 3GS in 2009, haha. As far as bikes, I've been riding Honda since 2009 and every generation of bike has been an improvement over the last. Does that mean I put my current bike on craigslist the second the new bike is announced? No. If I was OP, I'd snag a leftover 2020 CRF250 (if there's any left) and ride it for a few years. Just because the bike is all new in summer of 2021 doesn't mean it will be absolutely perfect and won't have issues. Might be a good idea to at least wait until 2022. Seems like some first year 250fs with major changes can have issues, ie 2018 CRF250. To the OP, Honda is a great bike and I hope you find whatever you're looking for! Smile

After seeing the 270 big bore that Ping rode for RacerX I'm really considering a crf250r with a similar build. Had an 18 crf450r, incredible bike but a bit too much for me at times. Been there done that with the ktm 350. Just something about the current honda chassis, suspension and ergos that I love. The bike just fits right. Has anyone else done a big bore with proper fuel/ignition mapping on this generation? Would love to hear feedback.

Same bike but it looks like ill have to go with a 21. 20s are sold out all over new England. plenty of 450s and other left over 250s but it seems like everyone bought up all the crfs.
