Tech 8 Lights

lights? hmm never had those but ive had 2 pairs of tech 8s, 1 sidi, and 1 pair sg10s. by far hands down the gaerna's held up the best. im going 2 1/2 years on them and my friends a stars he bought last year have wayy more rips and damage to them. idk about the sg12's but mine required zero break in.. try googling reviews, probally get info alot faster

I was at Alpinestars today for their fall intro and saw these boots first hand. 15 percent lighter with a replacement kick starter insert.



This boot requires NO break in and utilizes a completely new bootie system. Forget what you know about booties as this is radically different.

Yeah, I have had A-stars my whole life until my current boots, which are SG-12's. Over a year of hard riding and they barely look worn. I am a Gaerne convert for sure. Although the lights have to be a step forward.

All i know is i cant wait till these bad boys come out.

The new Tech 8s look good, watched the intro, worth a check for sure if in the market. As far as Nike goes wait and let others try them out first. If it is anything like their Hockey skate intro, you will thank me. If they get it right, good for them.

Like many riders, I wore Alpinestar tech 8s for years... then Gaerne came out with their SG10s. The improved fit over the tech 8s was noticeable after just a few minutes on the bike, I also felt a difference on how the insides of the boot gripped the bike with little effort on my part. Durability is way better than the tech 8s as well. I would easily wear out my tech 8s in a season--rending them useless for ankle support and protection. The SG10s however last 3 or 4 times longer (I still wear my original pairs for practice) and maintain their structural integrity throughout the life of the boot. As a package (fit, form, function, and finish), the SG10s are a winner. My .02.

alpinestars products in general are pretty hit and miss.

i have a ton of their stuff. various things. some of the stuff I love (the boots, gear, neck brace)....some of the stuff i hate (roost guards, underjersey wear)

my next boots will be tech10s for sure. not sure how they compare to the gaernes that yall are hyping up but im happy with the astar boots and ignorance is bliss.

I wonder if they are ever going to come out with tech 10 lights as well? I love my tech 10's but I can't deny that they are extremely heavy.

Just what I've always wanted....lighter motocross boots. I gotta tell ya, trying to run and cycle in my tech-8s is a PITA. If I had those lighter boots, I'd be able to train better and I'd be essentially ripped.....guaranteed.

really?! i love my sg12's, but i wore the soles out after 3 months! (only riding once a week)
great boots, but i need to get some new soles fitted!!!

i liked my tech 10s, but the sg12s are much better in my opinion- although i would never pay the retail price on them!!! (they are way too expensive)

I am a Gaerne convert after wearing astars for years. I would never go back to a bootie again.

I've worn Alpinestars for years.

Just recently purchased SIDI Crossfire TA's and the difference in comfort and out of the box broken-in feel is not even a fair comparison.

The SIDI's win hands down.
