All the talk and bullsh*tting that's going on here, as entertaining as it is, is getting a bit old.

Everyone seems to be saying Team USA need to watch out for Herlings, 'cause he will be smoking their asses (a view I agree with). But surely not only they need to worry, I'm sure it'll be a kick in the teeth to his stablemate and newly crowned 6 times World Champion Cairoli if a 17/18 year old Herlings beats him too?

Cairoli has reinvented himself from a time in '04/'05 from a hardpack rider into a sand master, he says himself that's his strongest point and what he most enjoys. So surely he must be dirtying himself at the thought of getting smoked? (I also think the rest of the FIM contingent will get smoked, and won't expect anything else).

My prediction is Herlings will be quite a bit out front (both his motos), with Cairoli by himself, then Dungey/Barcia not far behind him. I think Barcia might actually be able to beat Dungey, especially on a track like this which could be interesting.

I can't wait for the Europeans to stop posting doomsday MXON predictions for the US on here. Let's just let the riders do the talking on race day.

Herlings is bound to choke now with all this pressure on him to lap the whole field.

Seriously I know its all in fun ribbing each other, but if you think Ryan is not ready to ride that sand you are delusional. Cracks me up. I know Southwick may not be the deep sand but watching him last year from the last place start in the sandy muddy slop just blow by everyone convinces me the USA has nothing to worry about. Cool
Good Luck to all our boys...growing up racing with Ryan,Justin and Blake makes it all the more exciting!

That race should be shown at schools. Completely blew my mind. This was the definition of determination. He gained a lot of respect from a lot of people there, me first...

I agree (apologies for confusing anyone). I think Herlings will beat the Americans, and maybe Cairoli, but besides that the Americans will be next.

There is no doubt in my mind that the USA will win the event, I am just giving my thoughts on one or two riders who have no hopes of winning the team event. YES it is a team race, but you cannot fool yourself into thinking that a rider's ego won't be damaged by getting beat on the day. At the end of the day they are individuals out on the race track.

Honestly I couldn't give two shits about if Herlings wins his moto's. If US wins MXdN is what I am concerned about and I seriously feel we have to strongest team out of any that is going.
It's not who is fastest that wins, it's who makes the least mistakes that does.

Dear America,

Europe aren't racing the Des NATIONS, if they did/could, they would probably win.

USA do not beat Europe at the Des Nations.

Honestly, I think Herlings has as much to worry about as anyone else. Most people with a clue see him as the favorite to win his motos. I think he reputation would take a pretty big hit if Dungey or Barcia beat him at that track.

I don't recall reading or hearing any interview where any member of Team USA said they were worried. Hmmm.

Dear Mac,

We -WILL- be able to revisit this, later.

We'll add up the scores and see where we get, ok?

I'm going to be extremely disappointed if Herlings doesn't lap the entire field both motos, walk on water, and turn water into wine by the remarks made by some of you guys on the other side of the pond.

And that indeed would be a very impressive ride,I'd be one of the first today so too, providing it was straight up and not like saying he did if he crashed out etc

Fact: virtually every American and most Euros on here predict a win for Team USA

Does any American seriously want their boys to all just back off and all try to make sure they get top 5,go home with the trophy and say "see,we dominate" ??

If anyone does I say bullshit, they want to see their boys win Motos, and their Champs beat the GP champs,THAT'S racing afterall

When it's over, we can add the best 3 scores from "Europe" and see how they did versus the US...and you may very well be correct..."If" there was a Team Europe, that is.

All of Europe's MX fans are pulling a Tony Alessi on poor Jeffrey. I make no predictions about what will happen in the races but I do know that almost no one lives up to that kind of hype, and almost no MXdN goes how people expect.

Through all the hype, I fear for the kid if he does get beat straight up and it's every bit as likely as him winning. He's not the only sand specialist in this race, and as far as the GP tiddler class being a gauge: he's had zero competition from an actual sand specialist thus far.

Even if he does win, or someone from Italy, or someone from the USA, so what? They would win at a sand race, which makes up a small percentage of tracks raced in a series in Europe, and even smaller Stateside. This one MXdN will be awesome to watch but pretty much useless in gauging the actual overall talent out of all the Countries.

That said, Kuwait will win the team event. They ride in sand all day, and that real sand. Not that pussy American or European sand. Stamp it.

True, as far as race teams, but nothing seems to rally the unification of Europe and the Isles than the annual round of "anyone but the US," lol. Tongue If the US loses, the celebration no doubt will be one voice.

I don't care if Herlings laps the f-ing field and has time to stop and have a beer while doing it. All I want is for our boys to bring home the trophy.

No you don't. You really want all your team to win all their races ! Be honest !
