Tampa SX attendance

Edited Date/Time 2/27/2018 4:35pm
From tv, it looked really sparse. A lot of empty red seats on the lower ring, didn’t look like anyone on the upper ring. Is Feld pricing themselves out of good attendance numbers? Is it because of live coverage? As I remember, supercross stopped coming to Tampa because of poor attendance and scheduling conflicts with Daytona 500.

Florida Supercrosses have always had sparse attendance. They move them from stadium to stadium, but they never get a decent crowd in FL for some reason.

The attendance was really good and the lower level was crowded. Most stadiums dont use the top level.

Some of us went into the 2nd section above the turn after the woops. That section was not full so we went up there.

The ship is cool!

Actually, I thought the race was well attended. Much better than any Jacksonville race that I’ve been to.

I’m not sure what the actual numbers were but it seemed pretty full. I did find it strange that the stadium actually sold tickets for the industry seating that’s generally a free for all. I had 2 different times that non industry people told me that they just bought the seats.

Looked like a lot of empty seats from TV land, you guys in person would know more than we saw. Not sure if it’s prices or not. I know my attending went down once the live broadcast started. Combine live TV with a field that loses a star a week and the numbers are going to go down.

Wonder if Feld made their 25 million when there are empty seats. Cool

Not that I am aware of. The industry section is usually the area behind the podium but it was behind the sand entrance turn. My hard card would have been let in but it was full.

Attendance was very solid, as stated above much better than any Jacksonville round in the past. And I remember the Tampa rounds 20yrs ago were very sparse. So this was a good sign. The top section wasn't for sale so that may be deceiving from the tv viewpoint. Praying it was enough for them to bring it back next year because Jacksonville is too far and is a shitty city and stadium area and Daytona is only cool to say "yea I went to Daytona live" because the viewing flat out sucks I don't care where you sit, I've been over ten times and have sat/viewed everywhere.

Looked pretty empty for me as well. I elected to stay home and not fight the traffic or crowds, as well as save some money and watch it for free from the comfort of my home.

I would guess its a 65 to 70,000 seat Stadium? Does Feld ever announce the actual attendance numbers, tickets sold?

It was a good crowd. It’s important to remember the football stadiums hold significantly more people than the baseball parks on the west coast.

For some reason, SX puts me to sleep. Even the east coast time frame, I am out before the 250 main ends ,usually. It was a 15 minute drive from home, did not make the effort, still ended up asleep on the couch before the big bike main. I just get up early and catch them on gootube before Feld yanks them down.

Can confirm, $11 for beer is to damn high! Was a great night though and I hope it was enough to bring it back next year.

USABMX being in town hosting a national at the Oldsmar track helped with attendance. Just about every racer i know went to the SX.

42,000+ would be good numbers I would assume.
