How does that track stay open so close to residential homes?
You have to understand that the attitude toward motorsports in southern California is completely different to what we expect anywhere else. It's definitely changing for the worse, but traditionally, they've been pretty accepting of motorsports compared to a state like Washington where I grew up (and currently live).
The fairgrounds and the track were there before most of the homes across the street. it used to be called Starwest Motocross.
When I was in the military and stationed in CA, I would go down there in the evenings and ride the practice during the week until 10pm when they closed. It was usually a great track layout and the dirt was good. I rode a lot of laps there at Starwest and at Perris Raceway (just a few miles west) which is also surrounded by homes.
