Has anyone used their wheels?

MXA wrote good things about them a few years ago after testing them. I'm getting tusk rims laced up to oem hubs on a 96 CR I'm building because I've read good things and I've got too many damn bikes now so I'm starting to get more frugal.

I've got about 5 hours on mine. I don't do anything super gnar, but so far so good.

Can't beat the price.

I have a rear wheel that I use for trail riding, very happy with it so far

I used a rear for 3 seasons on a 250SX that included a half dozen off road races per year. Never had any issues with it, I plan to buy again when I need wheels for the new bike.

I’ve had a set for around two years and they’re completely fine. Don’t believe that you have to pay $2500 for a decent set

I got spikes and rim laced up to oem yz hub on my 144.

Blew two spokes on lap one. Wheel still straight by end of moto. Tough. Replaced spikes good to go. (Took a peg through the spokes)

I have a set of rims laced up to my OEM hubs with the original spokes and nipples. Trued up pretty easily and have held up well through several hare scramble races so far. No loose spokes, still true.

Also have a spare full wheelset with the hubs and everything. Haven't had a chance to use them but I have no reason to doubt them. They look to be pretty solid for what they cost.

I bet the owners of Dubya are cringing at this thread. Why buy their expensive wheels when MXA says Tusk is just as good? Dubya stop giving MXA your money!

Mine didn’t make me go any faster but held up just fine the season I ran them. Spokes stayed tight. I’m a heavier guy that likes to jump as well.

Have about 15 hours of use on mine now and they are fine. I bought a spoke torque wrench too. Out of the box the spokes needed to be torqued properly. Then after the 1st and 2nd ride i had to torque them up again. I've only had to adjust them once since.

Raced with a guy a few weekends ago who said he had his for 5 years with about 125 hours a year and they have held up great... for what its worth.

I destroyed a front rim and had two spokes seize up on the rear wheelset. the spokes, I check quite often, don't know why they seized. The rim, I take responsibility for that, I race NHHA and sometimes the better looking line is through rocks.or just through bushes.. And I've destroyed A60s as well, so don't feel like these wheels are lower quality, but did destroy it much quicker than the A60 set.

But a great deal for a complete wheel set, even with replacing the front rim I'm still under budget compared to dubyas. Even when I bought them, they sent me the wrong spacers, and immediately sent out the correct ones, so I appreciate that service

I’ve seen multiple rear hubs destroyed where the sprocket is attached. Invest the extra $300 and get the talon evo wheel set. They’re solid

Just got mine. Shipped tight and true. Nice heavier gauge spokes. Going to put them through the wringer this weekend at Red River.

I have about 10hrs on mine. I’m 250lbs go pretty decent and have had zero issues so far. I check the spokes before every ride and once throughout the day. I’ve had A60 on Talon hubs and can’t say those are $600 better.
If you’re a brand snob like me you can buy Excel rim stickers that fit perfectly over the Tusk logos.

Billy will be in here shortly to bully you into a $1000 set of wheels.

Id give Tusk a try as a spare set of wheels. They have decent reputation. Id like to mention I recently contacted Dubya concerning a vintage project. They sent an email back that likely took an hour or more to compile, listing all of the options , and custom work that could be done including custom made hubs etc. Best customer service ever.

Ive had them 2x on old bikes my dad has a front and my best friend has a rear we never had a problem.

Are they available in different colors yet? I'm not trendy, so the black wheel trend isn't my thing. I paid more last time for a Warp9 with color being the only factor more important than price. How many thumbs down can I get for saying black wheels=yuck!

So far they have been good for me. I’ve been check spokes regularly and rotor and sprocket bolts. I have about 7 hours on my set and most rode sand. I’ve noticed it etches the black spokes (I’m a detail freak so that bothers me) but I’ve flat landed some stuff and felt safe with them.

i have one laced up on the front of my cr250 with tusk spokes and stock hub. I have zero issues and it shines real nice... almost better then my excel rear wheel.
