I think he is referring to when Jason first began his pro career. He struggled bad for a couple years. Hes always been with Bobby Hewitt from day one I believe, so it was probably when he was struggling. Then he got a 250 title and Im sure they all love him now.

It was his rookie year on Suz..they actually sent him home to get more prepared to race and brought him back later in the year.

yep, being able to go really fast only works when you can go really fast the whole race. i remember he struggled his rookie year, super talented only goes so far.

good to see he took that little "punishment" seriously because it could have gone either way

JA21 was not exactly the most "polished" of factory riders when it came to off the bike stuff; IE, some social media posts and general attitude. Lot of that has changed and certainly with age comes wisdom. Also have to think being around RD5 those years at Baker's factory had an effect on him.

There was a Rick Johnson interview when Jason was 11 or so I think, said he thought Jason will dominate one day.

The Jason Anderson / Bobby Hewitt story is one of those very rare stories where a team manager sticks by a rider when he shouldn't (and is even pressured to cut him), only to be rewarded years later when the guy turns out to be a world class rider.

I did an MX Clinic with Anderson at the local track while he was on that break. I learned a ton that day and he was a great teacher, we worked on corners for hours. Best $150 I've spent on Moto.
