How is it broken up on the weekends?

I was heading south tomorrow & now its rain for the next 10 days.

Switchback is 4.5h from me & I'm just curios if you actually get enough track time to make it worth it. Does it get boring quick?

Broc Hepler rides there often so I'd assume it can't get that boring. lol They've done a good job of creating a challenging indoor track. Its gotten much better than it used to be several years ago.

As far as how they break up their weekend times currently, I'm not 100% sure on that. This is their schedule for the upcoming week. Not sure if you're on FB or not so I figured I'd share.

I was just there feb 3rd. It was pretty busy and they split up the big bikes into 4 groups (A/B and 3 groups of C) of about 16 each I believe and had a group of little bikes. All groups 10 min sessions. Learning the track with 15 other riders on that small track is a bit difficult but if your a decent rider you should have it down after first session.
I was there for about 3 hrs and put 0.7 hrs on my bike. I like the current track layout. Nothing crazy big or sketchy but still has a couple nice timing sections and no whoops which is good for me because I suck at whoops lol.

Edit: My bro went there yesterday and Hepler was there. He said there was only like 10 people there so if you can, go on a week day and you will get a lot more track time.

Billy described it perfectly. I prefer to go on Tuesday or Thursday because it's not as busy. I have been told Saturdays are usually less busy than Sunday, but I don't know for sure since we haven't gone on a Sunday yet. You will have to buy a membership card for the year plus regular admission.
I forget the cost, but it's not too crazy.

So I should call 4.5 hours before they open to see how busy they are? Your comment didn't make much sense for the question.

Switchback 2/9/19

This was from this past Saturday, the track was pretty dead, hardly anyone there.

Im sure the track owners could have answered your question over the phone better than any of us.

Maybe a biased reply to my question though. I wanted to hear feedback. Thank you though

I take my boy there, every now and then. 3 hour drive for us. Like the others said, it is broken up by your skill level. I always question going there, because in my opinion you don’t get much seat time. But once your there your glad you went. Because my boys having a great time, and to see the smile on his face. But it’s a long drive for minimal riding time. If your gonna go, do the whole weekend. I guess it’s the price you pay, if you want to ride, living in the northeast this time of year. A pic from a few weeks back.

It is further for you but and equal drive for us to go to Ramjam. Boy much it prefers it over Switchback. Fumes seem to be much stronger at Switchback and Ramjam has a pit area. The time we did go this year the lay out sucked. They did change it a short time after we were there or so I was told.

Some times MX Freak Pix is there, he shoots free photos so that is a plus.

Your luck wasn't very good. I had the same luck. Spent most of the day riding with my kid on the peewee track outside. He was afraid of riding with that many 50s and 65s. I didn't even bother riding with the big guys. 3 c class heats was crazy. No more Sundays for us. I'll stick to Tuesday and Thursday practice.

That was me. My kid was on the little electric bike and a green Honda 50.

The kid was afraid of the combination of the extra electric torque(compared to a Honda 50), and how many cobras and 65s were on the track. Not to mention the track was way different for him, and he was starting to get a cold. We rode outside but it wasn't worth putting up a video of the bike. He's gotta work off some rust and get used to it. The bike is definitely capable and way cheaper than a Beta. Suspension does not move much with a 50 lb kid on it tho. It's still better than PW or CRF 50 suspension.

Maybe some new springs at half the weight would help your kids confidence? You can calculate the spring rate by measuring spring wire dia, spring dia and number of turns.
