Ryan Surratt and Dylan Epstein will be joining our series this summer. Surratt will ride a privateer NutUp Kawasaki 250 and will pit next to the Monster Energy Alpinestars Kawasaki team.

Both riders will ride the entire 10 round series in the MX2 class.

Nice! Always good to see more guys on the line up there! I have become quite fond of watching those races. Should be some battles this year.

I agree. It seems like our series is getting better and better each year.

However just when things are finally starting to get good up here there's a second national series starting in 2018. Not sure what's going to happen. There's clearly not enough talent to have 2 seperate national series. I believe the 2nd series starting up will be an 8 round series in the first year and from the little I know it does look pretty promising.

Guess we'll see what happens in a year. I just hope all the teams and riders all commit to the same series because if they don't the talent pool will drop big time and besides that we can't have 2 national champions. That just wouldn't make sense.

Does anyone have any more info on the 2nd national series starting up? Any Canadians have info on that?

For a guy that is barely making the transition to pros, seems like Surratt's plans are always changing.

I'm not very familiar with him so what was his original plan?

I believe he was planning to ride EMX250 with Bud Racing Kawi. Weltin took his spot now.
(If I don't confuse him with another guy)

Surratt never had an outdoor ride so I wouldn't call this a changing plan, he's just doing what he needs to do to keep racing.

I totally get the do what you have to do to keep racing but he's riding a privateer bike and pitting next to the Monster Kawi team so why not privateer it down south instead of up here? I don't know the details of his deal so maybe Monster are willing to pay his expenses. I have no idea.

Strictly speaking of racing we have a few rounds less so cost wise if he's paying his own way then it's less expensive but speaking money/purse alone it pays even less up here than it does down south.

I don't know his long term plans so maybe he's trying to get a ride up here for next year to get pro experience before making his way down south in a couple of years.

its a tough sport to secure solid income/ride especially for a "new" pro rider. best of luck to him in Canada & beyond

An event from last year that Millsaps won popped up on my DVR last week.
It was the first time I had watched it.
It was good racing. The announcers and camera work were very good.
Hearing KTM referred too as "katoom" over and over and over was a bit odd.

how old is surratt? 18? I've seen him race a lot at glen Helen, its cool to see he has a ride somewhere.
