Seems like everyone is buying up pit bikes, 2 strokes, anything they can get their hands on at the moment and it's driving the prices up. Anyone else see things returning to normal if not below normal next year once things open back up and people sell off their quarantine entertainment toys? I'm not a mountain bike fan but there's going to be a lot of bikes for sale there too this winter or next year..

Was thinking about picking up a decent used yz125 but I think I'll wait til next year and see what pops up on marketplace.

I think there is gonna be a TON of all sorts of toys for sale in the not so distant future.

Deals will be had.

Yes and no. The reason so many bikes were snapped up is because demand skyrocketed. The prices are high because the supply could not keep up with all the new riders buying bikes. Manufacturers are going into overtime production to try and fix that, but they are having difficulty with their supply chains. So:
-There are fewer new bikes and more buyers
-Some of those new buyers will continue to be riders, even after the effects of Covid are mitigated
-Any reposessions or sales of used bikes are likely to be whisked up by a still under-served retail market

I think we'll see a return to normalcy, rather than a huge drop in pricing. Like always, there will be deals to be had if you look closely enough.

I see the market returning to normal when used bike prices do drop again next year or whenever that might be. If most people who are new to the sport were comfortable enough financially to buy a new bike now, they most likely will have enough disposable income to sell the bike for what it’s worth when they do decide it’s not for them.

Try buying a Jet Ski or Wave Runner. Every Sea Doo in the country is sold out! Local dealer said they typically sell 100 units a month (dirt bike, stree bike, UTV, ATV, PWC), last month they sold 309. People are spending money on toys like the world is coming to an end. Which lets dealers basically charge whatever they want.

I predict many good deals on low hour new bikes come Christmas time.

Sold my wakeboard boat (Mastercraft x30) for a premium in May, hoping to take advantage of this and upgrade a few years new in the winter.

Certain Seadoo models are being pushed back because they won't be able to develop and manufacture parts in time, So they're re-releasing the 2020s as 2021s.

have you seen used bike prices now? lol
I've been in the market for a new bike. People are literally asking more for a used bike than what they cost brand new. Its absolutely insane. I'll wait til the manufacturers get restocked. Or wait til this passes and people start selling their once ridden bikes at reasonable prices meet year.

The crazy thing is the prices used bikes are going for. My coworker bought a ragged 2001 CR125 for $2000. I thought she was dumb to pay that, the bike was BEAT. She didn’t even have it up for sale yet and someone gave her $3000 for it.

Bike prices are insane right now! I think it was yesterday on Pnw dirt bike classifieds on Facebook, someone posted "be patient, good deals are out there! I just picked up this yz400f for $1500!" Everyone was commenting on how lucky he was and what a great deal. Thing looked roached. How old is that? 1998?? A 1998 thumper for $1500!? I get it if you are buying one for nostalgia, but I think this guy was buying a bike to ride. I bought a 2013 250sx a couple months ago for $2800, and thought I overpaid (was a little clapped). Now I think I could sell it for 4k easy.

I just paid $800-1000 more for a used bike than I normally would yesterday, I am out of inventory and need something to sale. Still should make decent on the resale.

I can't wait for things to normalize, I am saving up and plan on scooping up as many deals as possible when the new wears off!!!

Once the $600/wk unemployment ends, assuming the demand is gong to go down for "toys" and 6-9 months latter hopefully some deals come about!

I was going to make a post about this last week, but didn't want everyone to be like no shit we can all read. It is astounding what bikes are selling for,and the fact that people are paying what they are. Its almost better to buy new right now if you can find or afford it. My top 3 WTF finds on craigslist
1. 2014 Rmz 450 4990$
2.95 yz 125 2000$
3.2006 ktm sx 2500 4000$

Not me! I bought a dirt bike and I’m addicted, probably a good thing for the overall sport if there are a substantial amount of others like me. I purchased it about 3-4 weeks ago and have been to the track 3 times and 1 day of trail riding locally.

I got good money for my yz450 and it sold in 5 days. I wasn't planning on selling it until the spring but I couldn't pass up getting top dollar. Currently without a bike though.

Just wait till the lightly used RV’s hit the market...
I’ve been in the market for a toy hauler, and any dealer I find within 3-4 hours with something I like usually has it sold or pending sale before I can get a phone call in. It’s crazy

Seriously.

We picked up a new (to us) camper/toy hauler in March. I'm really considering selling it for $5k more than we paid and then picking up a newer one when the deals start coming.

There will 100% be some amazing deals, with nothing else to do this summer like concerts or 3 on 3 basketball tournaments or rodeos or fairs or theme parks etc. etc. so many people have bought RVs that are going to have some serious buyers remorse.

Sold my 2004 ktm 125 last month for $2800. Title wasn't in my name and it didn't have fork guards. It was not a roach but it was going to need work soon and I didn't want to pass up this sellers market. The kid rode it up and down the street, looked it over and loaded her up. The sale took less than 30 min.
