I’m a designer so these things really bother me but does anyone else cringe when they see the blue Supercross logo? I get that they were trying to make cool looking letters by chopping them up but c’mon man this shit really looks like Surfercross. My wife who has been a backseat watcher for the last 8 years even said wth is that? For a series that seems to focus on new fans, maybe they shouldn’t confuse people with there logo. Anyone with me or am on my own.

Forgive me if this was a topic of conversation already.

I agree the slash on the E is absolutely unnecessary. Take the money you give to your graphic designer and put it towards main event payouts...

If I squint and put my hand over my eyes, from 3 blocks away it looks like Surfercross to me.

Other than that, I just see Supercross

Looks good enough. (Un)Interestingly enough, I just recreated this logo for a side project. It's 90% just a typeface, but they did chop up a couple parts. Here's what the font looks like unedited.

Haha that’s funny. I knew they had tweaked some font out there. It’s not so bad without the E slant cut.

The new logo is shit. It does remind me of the word 'Surfercross", but what made me hate it most was the over the top, extraneous "unveiling" video they released surrounding the "new logo". Eyeroll.

For reference, ugh..had to watch it again. Cringe.

I do video for a living. The pre recorded videos with Daniel Blair on the big screen have him keyed out on a green screen but they didn't mask the green Monster logo on his jacket so it's transparent also. Pinch

I think the only way to get confused on what it says is if you don’t know what your letters look like in the first place. It’s actually harder to get surfercross outta that.

It’s more of an “at a glance” thing. If you analyze the type then you can read it just fine. I did broadcast graphics for the NFL for 3 years. From Network shows to SuperBowl we always had to keep legibility on the forefront of our design. If you can’t read it in a bar from a glance then you fucked up.

It’s funny because at A1 I thought it was odd that Feld was promoting Surfercross so much since it’s a smaller event at Milestone and then I realized it’s just a badly designed Supercross logo.

Clearly looks like SUPERCROSS to me, so perhaps you have an astigmatism.

Perhaps that was what they intended it to look like but there was an error in the printing process, lol.

The background behind him is varying layers of blue and his monster logo is blue so it's not super obvious. I've never seen a monster branded jacket with the "sugar free" branding. Grinning

I couldn't even enjoy the videos because it's all my eyes gravitated to. The giant screen in Arlington didn't help hide it. It's literally a 15 second fix and re-render if they gave a shit.

My wife is graphic designer and I showed her the logo. She said at first glance she thought it said supfrcross until she realized the e was "all wrong" lol.

I think the logo is fine, all except that stupid e as well.

The logo looks like it belongs to some spam website that is pretending to be the actual Supercross website.

Is there a reason the "e" is chopped off like that? Usually designers have some dumb story to tell about the reasoning for these things.

"The Omaha Blue lettering represents the excitement in the air that fans feel when they enter a Supercross stadium. The angled "e" reveals a triangle shape between the "e" and the "r" to represent a Supercross jump. The "r" overlapping the "c" represents the fantastic close racing that you will experience at a Supercross event."
