Does it seem like since Supercross is more important to American racers, that they have forgotten how to go fast outdoors?

Us riders pretty much train on perfect tracks all year, have less time on track at the nationals vs a mx gp weekend, what do you expect?

When RV trained for the mx gp he were in socal while his competitors were in Holland and Belgium riding beat up sandtracks

They haven’t “forgotten” its lack of time racing outdoors as well as American tracks being highways in comparison to gp tracks, couple that with most caring about sx more and you’re just not gonna see spectacular outdoor riders. Abolish sx.

Hardly pussification.

For many years American superiority was precisely because of Supercross.

I think any disparity is because of the extended downtime between the last National and the MXdN nowadays. It's partly because MXSports decided to bring the last National forward by a week or two and Youthstream have (not intentionally) scheduled GPs later. That's what needs to be addressed IMO.

Did they not race supercross in the 80's, 90's, and 00's when USA dominated the MXdN?

There is nothing wrong with supercross. Neither does it make our riders slower. They are doing just fine.

This is such a stupid take it's painfull.

While the USA may not have the fastest MX riders currently they by far have the best all around riders. SX is super fucking hard and that's why the Euros generslly avoid it.

And as already pointed out SX is directly responsible for the rise and domination the USA experienced for over a decade straight of victories.

I feel like people who talk about "pussification" are 169% of the time projecting. Save the catty bullshit for your girlfriends at the nail salon. FFS. Pathetic whiny babies.

Where is this American National highway bullshit coming from? The nationals this year had some of the roughest, deepest tracks I’ve seen on our circuit. If anything, aside from the sand tracks across the pond, the gp tracks are more highway tracks. The way the gp guys can square up a turn and flat track around their tracks is more of a high way comparison in my book. Their guys are fast. Our guys are fast. The stars have to align to win Nations. End of story

Our guys aren’t as fast right now... so what?

Dungey, RV, Js and RC would all beat Tomac for titles.

ET is my favorite rider on the track, but he is no RV.

We will start seeing the "oh goodie, A1 is coming" posts soon, but I have never cared at all about supercross.

I find it tedious to watch, dont care, period.

It takes place indoors- not my thing

You have to drive to congested metropolitan hellholes to see it- not my thing.

If supercross went away I would not care at all. Not that it is going to happen

It's screwing the sport up at a local level too. Every track now is just a dicked up jump fest.

Here's the math and logic that shows how we've shifted our focus while Europe has stayed focused on outdoor racing...almost exclusively.

Starting with the MEC...IN OCTOBER!!!

Throw in the Euroe & Aussie SX races...
The US-SX Series.

That all actually starts as early as September (testing new bikes and new SX set-ups, etc.) and runs ALL THE WAY thru the last SX MAY.

Let's do the math, I'll use JA 21 for scheduled for this year (yes, I know he's injured)
2 invitational races (France/Oz)
17 SX Races

That's 20 SX races from mid-October thru early May. That's 7+ months, including testing/training for SX.

Then, we go outdoors.

May 18 thru August 24.
That's 3 months.
12 Races.
Give the average guy may get 2-4 weeks of testing before hand...often mixed in with end of their SX season/calendar.
Let's be generous and say that's 4+ months.

20 races over 7 months versus 12 races over 4 months.
When you break it down...mathematically...
The race ratio is 5:3 (SX v MX)
In reality...and based on actual time and money spent...
It's more like 3:1 (SX v MX...races missed and allowing for the "SX only" teams/riders/rosters).
How many teams and riders have "SX only" schedules? That's a fact of life and that just how it is.

I'm not arguing nor am I "angry".
I just looking at the reality.

Also, when people bring up the golden years of US dominance?
They need to realize we were not even close to this heavily SX leaning ratio. In the truly golden early years...we had the Trans AMA/Trans USA...Golden State Series and all sorts of other races that had us racing year round...OUT the mud...on hillsides...damn near every weekend.

So, yes, things have changed and nowadays we kind of "own" Supercross.

If we want our "Outdoor Swagger" back?
We need to spend more time and energy focused on our outdoor game.

It works for Europe.

I ripped a start from Egypt and I was happy about that.

Tracks in the US are speedways compared to 10-15 years ago. Go back and look. They keep taking out tight or slower sections while making more room for VIP tents.
