According to Chad only JG, TC and KW are allowed to run the factory Honda hydraulic clutch.

Wonder what's so special about it?

nutn, go to a KTM shop and order yourself one Chad! Actually I don't aside that its hydraulic and made of boobtanium...wonder how hard it is to put a KTM hydo clutch on another brand?

Production does not apply to this item or issues like it. You can run non-OEM suspension links, shocks, forks, levers, wheels, hubs, and on and on.

Magura has been in the hydraulic clutch business for decades. You can buy 'em over the counter just like those anodized plugs that everyone swaps out.

This web site seems to suck, but it points out that ANYONE can go the fluid route, from the weekend warrior, to the factory pro.

I know they had a "jack" model for earlier CFR405s. The fluid clutch is certainly nothing new or revolutionary. They come stock on your basic KTM.

the factory hydro-clutch they used last year... short and saps... is a standard, but unobtainium, master cylinder setup by i was told nissin, and they used a slave cylinder type actuator on the cases to pull the clutch arm. Unlike magura and mineral oil as a fluid, this one used dot4 i was told.

does chad really want one? he wouldnt know how to ride if he didnt adjust his clutch over a triple every 2 laps!

x2. Had one on my 08. I'd do that mod way before a pipe on any 450. The Magura unit is super smooth & makes the shifting sooo easy.

I remember there was a time...not too long ago...

The #27 Honda out-ran the Factory Hondas; so, items like this (Works-Hydro-clutch) are really about certain people feeling "Special"...as proven by the White-MDK Hondas jus' a few years ago.

Oh, and, let's not forget the Merge Racing Hondas of Kyle Regal.

I'm jus' sayin'...

What a joke! Reed practices at the Honda test track and is killing JG and rookie Canard but he is "not" Factory so is not allowed to have such a basic component thrown his way. He is Hondas only chance at a title, they don't pay him a dime in salary, why not give him a factory bike? Besides it makes them, factory Honda look bad if Chad can kick their rider's butts on a non Factory bike. Very very silly no?

What is so special about a hydraulic clutch? The one I felt at the track on a 2010 KTM 350 I think it was felt like any other clutch?

they dont want him simple as that......he is too fickle, changes contracts every year, rides what he wants to ride, when he doesnt win he gets sick, etc etc......a pretty high maintenance rider without a lot of consistency in his program plus he wants bank...honda prolly got canard and grant for less than what reed wants.......he may pull out mid year and go car racing, if doesnt win he will throw in the towel and i dont expect him to win with a full field.....i dont think he will beat canard and grant this year..........canard damn near podiumed every 450 race he entered, grant is faster than reed, just see if he can keep his head in the game for a full series...................

Grant maybe faster then Reed at a race or two but he is way inconsistent.

Because he complains about the set-up of every bike he has (save maybe Suzuki which is where he should have stayed). In having his own team, he's ultimately responsible - finally no more excuses.
