Yeah yeah it's a street bike, but the significance of this bike is undeniable and the price it's going to fetch might be record setting. Read the description and you'll see just how rare this thing is.

Guess I should have picked those cheap sand cast ones up back in 1992. But they were rough, and ugly, no one would ever want those.....LOL

Every time I see a rare Honda sell for huge money, it makes me feel tingly. Wink

The last sandcast that I saw sold in Louisiana went for $15k and it was very clean. Just tbe tanks on those can pull in some dough.

What a sweet piece of motorcycling history. From what I looked at, the owner is expecting more than $75,000 ! Thanks for posting, TK. Guess I'll just have to enjoy the pictures. Angry

I'm a little surprised at the price but it's hard to argue against the historical significance of the CB750. Curious if it's really one of two prototypes left in existence.

I have a '74 550 and it's been an awesome little bike. I can't bring myself to sell it even though it doesn't get used nearly enough.

Looks to me like it is one of the prototypes, what an amazing piece of motorcycling history.

Yeah this isn't a regular sand cast CB. It's on of 11 hand made prototypes, and the only one of 4 sent to the US. You couldn't have bought one of these if you wanted to back in the day.

Hey Terry, I don't really want to get involved but I think he was talking about this quote:

"As a point of reference, fully restored sandcasts (with a "normal" 4 digit frame number) are currently selling at just under 40,000 dollars, with 3 digit bikes (Frame numbers 999 and under) fetching a 20% premium on top of that, and 2 digit bikes fetching more."

Newmann does vintage (and LOVES Hondas) and to think he could have bought a SB case 750 22 yrs. ago and the money he could have made off it, I'm glad I'm not in his business. Wink

Yep, there were a couple basket case ones available for a little bit of nothing back then.

Heck, there were five BSA's for sale locally back in 1993 and I didn't have enough money to buy them. Had to go in halves with a buddy of mine. One mint 70 441 Victor Special, one mint B50MX, a CCM powered hardtail flattracker complete (we got it running with fresh fuel and a carb cleaning), a rough but complete 65 A10 Road Rocket and last but not least, a basket case Gold Star with a mostly refurbished engine ready for assembly. Price? $2500.00!

I wonder what this diamond in the rough is worth.....Smile

The '72 CB750 was the first street bike I every got a ride on. I was 10 at the time and a neighbor from a few houses down had one. I was surprised he offered but am glad he did.

Gorgeous. I love the tastefully modded early 70's stuff, and it's cool you kept it the original color too.

My little 550 (and my Road King, at Deal's Gap):

How many cc is the engine? 450? 500? Any history on who rode the bike? That is so cool and I remember drooling over the one Bimbo rode like this.

Hey Terry where is the battery? In the back of the seat? Or is it kick start only.

My dad had the 1976 Honda 750 Four F1 in the canary yellow colour i was 4 yrs old at the time and he used to take me everywhere on it. Not sure i'd pay that much for a bike which really can only be stored for display.
Thanks for posting this TK like Newman I've got a tingle downstairs

Battery is laying on its side under the seat. The bike retains the electric start and the kick start, but you need a battery, electric start or not.

A little of both actually! I sometimes build bikes with the intent of selling but I can never part with them after I put my soul into them lol. But mostly I build them for myself.
