Coincidence that both monster riders were in the gate that fell first?

Roczen, Seely, and Malcolm are all RB riders tho. But yeah, Bubba and the Dunge on the late gate has got me folding tin-foil hats 10 at a time.

Remember a few years ago when they first highlighted the mechanism that dropped both gates? They said there was a backup plan in place in case it malfunctioned. I imagine its 2 separate gate operators connected via radio or some other device. This could be nothing but human error, one dude was just a bit slower. I have to think that they went for the manual approach after the 2 failed gate drops.

I'm surprised that RV didn't have his own single gate at this race..

Last year, The back up plan was a cable that tied the two gates together with a mechanical crank in the middle to pull the cables. The main system had electric solenoids actuators IIRC. No reason they couldn't make either one work its very simple.
Either way Bubba got the holey!

WOW! That sucks these guys are racing for a million. Remember when RC and Emig were talking about the west gate getting all the hole shots till the second moto when Bubba got the Hole Shot. They have one year 2 figure it out. If not one gate, I don't like split gates.

haha, man with slow mo replay, everything is under scrutiny. Someone should take this to one step further and do a Myth Busters frame by frame calculation to determine the millisecond advantage. Been while since math but something like this.

Each frame per second =

30 frames per second on 720p/1080i resolutions

or

24 frames per second on i1080p

So determine how many frames difference and then do the math.

Go back and watch it in real time. The difference in time between those two gates dropping would be in the thousandths of a second.

Also, Stewart got the holeshot in that race.

Yeah, but a conspiracy theory is way more interesting than the truth.

But for what's the biggest prize in the sport, it should be perfect, or one gate.

just have jody add 1 tooth to the gates...that way everyone gets into 3rd quicker....

Remember when motocross was started with a gate (or rubberband) that was operated by some dude with dirty, checkered vans on and then the race outcome was decided by which dude got around the course the fastest? Dry

I thought what was more interesting on Stewart's behalf was that he admitted to RacerX that he lost some of his racing edge due to his SX only contract back in the L&M days.

Heard that too. Funny how our hindsight is always 20/20...but sometimes our current sight isn't. I'll be he regrets making that decision.
