Wow, that's as open and honest with a situation as you can be and credit to Steve for being that way. Hopefully that helps him with the healing process.

i started following professional SX and MX in about '94 and Lamson was my favorite rider when i started. actually, Team Honda (Lammy, MC, Henry). i had the Lamson replica honda toy bike, i had like 5 Lamson posters in my room, i even got the Team Honda Fox gear..

I read that, wow tough man, very matter a fact , I could relate a bit to my grandad WW2 veteran seen a lot of heart ache in his time & he didn't want to be around when my grandma passed away,
still quite sad reading though, credit to Steve a very talented man in many ways.

Steve proves he has the strongest of will and character – that's why he's a champ.

Such a difficult subject that so many people never talk about. Good to see Steve dealing with it as well as he is. Fantastic rider, damn he could wring the guts out of a Honda tiddler.

One of my favorites in my collection. Steves team title hat he gave me after moto 2. Steel city. Had him sign. Badazz hat from a badazz guy.

Here’s my thoughts on Steve and his older brother Tom... good peeps and core Moto.
—- back in 2011/12. I was out at one the Marysville sand tracks and broke my femur getting some seat time in before some of my clubs races that were coming up.

Well as I took a ride to the local hospital. Tom and some club members picked up my bike, gear and truck. And handled everything including cleaning my bike up. In maybe a week or two on the way to a private track / lessons at the Oatfield. They returned my truck and bike directly to me and unloaded it right into my garage.

My wife and myself and 1 year old daughter thanked both of them!!!!
- the only bummer is that was gonna be one sweet private track day and lesson I signed up for. Which of course I couldn’t attend.
Still bummed

Gutsy interview. Always loved to see Steve ride. He was known for being a 125 specialist but he was very fast on the 500 also. I love the part about him saying he’s just an ordinary guy. He may feel that way but all of us that were around when he raced KNOW he is a national MX champion. Absolutely NOTHING ordinary about that!!! Hope he clicks into Vital and reads this thread. He won’t be forgotten!

Steve is one of the nicest people I've ever met.

John gave me the nickname Slippy when I was 12 yrs old.

John and Carrol were some of the nicest people you could ever meet, may they both rest in peace!

What a great article, has to be tough to handle that with composure and grace.

I was lucky enough to see him ride a few nationals and he damn sure could ride.
