Since the rise of star racing yamaha in 2014 not one of there prospects have gone on to be successful on the factory Yamaha. Webb didnt do well for the 2 years he was there, and so far Plessinger hasnt been close to as good as many thought he would be.
Will Ferrandis be the first to make the jump form yamaha 250 to 450 and be a race contender?

To answer your question: No, because he will be on a KTM.

If you guys are talking about Dylan going to ktm. In the words of Langston I Heard Ktm is making a offer factory bike and baker factory obviously, they just don't know what team yet. Kinda made it sound like a riders for sure getting dropped for him. Im guessing Davalos , Wilson or bogel might be looking for a ride.
Hear anything? Way off base or at least plausible?

Honda has had more 250F SX championships than any other OEM since 2008... I'd say this theory applies more to them than Yamaha for sure. I just ran these number the other day, hold on... **digs up post**

Yamaha 450 Supercross Titles
2008 - Yamaha 450 SX Championship - Reed
2009 - Yamaha 450 SX Championship - Stewart

450 SX Championships, since 2008, the other OEMs have won...
KTM - 4 - Dungey, Webb
Kawasaki - 4 - Villopoto
Yamaha - 2
Suzuki - 1 - Dungey
Husqvarna - 1 - Anderson
Honda - 0

Yamaha 250 Supercross Titles
2008 - 250 SX West - Lawrence
2015 - 250 SX West - Webb
2016 - 250 SX West - Webb
2018 - 250 SX West - Plessinger
2019 - 250 SX West - Ferradis

250 SX Championships, since 2008, the other OEMs have won...
Honda - 8
Yamaha - 5
Kawasaki - 5
KTM - 3
Husqvarna - 2
Suzuki - 1

TOTAL SX CHAMPIONSHIPS
Kawasaki - 9
Honda - 8*
Yamaha - 7
KTM - 7
Husqvarna - 3**
Suzuki - 2

*Honda hasn't won a premier class SX title since 2003, 16 years ago.
**Husqvarna wasn't a serious SX racing brand from 2008-2015

I would say it's the riders not entirely the bike and program.

Plessenger in my opinion is one of the "lower" elite talent to win a 250 SX title.

That’s a hot take.

I think that injury last year set him back big time but I think he’s been really down on confidence in the 450 class.

I think just give him some more time and maybe a team switch and he will come around.

Where exactly were all the critics expecting him to finish. He's getting beaten by a bunch of former national and regional supercross champions. He's not getting beaten by privateers. If he loses his ride who gets it? Sure maybe Ferrandis moves up, but other than him there isn't really any 250 class talent that would be better, and there's nobody on a support 450 ride that would do any better than him.

On the other side of the coin, since leaving Star, what have Jeremy and Alex Martin done?
They both did well on the Yamaha and won.
I know you're focusing on the Yamaha 450, but maybe you should focus on the Star YZ250F and how GOOD it is.

Dunno if going full in in America is in the cards (yet), but if it is then I think the Butler Brothers will be getting that present from KTM. And both 250 and 450, so Baggett and Ferrandis could/would be a great pick. Star Racing has off course more then just Dylan. Justin Cooper for example, Shane McElrath and Colt Nicholls could all three become interesting pick ups for the Yamaha 450 team. The biggest question I ask myself is: "Is it still interesting for Yamaha to run the team by itself or would it be interesting to source the team out to MotoConcepts". Because then you have a wealthy teamowner who loves the sport, who isn't afraid of putting money into his team and these two forces combined it could create a strong team with possible three riders instead of two.

Is that your personal opinion or do you still work for Yamaha?

I love how everyone blames the YZF450 for Webb's lack of success in 2017 and 2018, when he has admitted in multiple interviews that in those years he was not doing the work required to be a top premiere class rider.

Both. But tell me that’s not a valid point.
I’m friends with Alex and often think to his Rock River and Star days.
I haven’t asked him, but what if he was on a Yami these last few years, where would he be, what could he have won?

J Mart was leading the championship on a bike that his teammates could not sniff a top 5 on until a Star bike took him out. A Mart was running up front on KTMs minor mistakes cost him at least one more win. Injuries played a much bigger part than the bike, especially with J Mart.

Lot of things and thought process at Yamaha has changed in regards to building/establishing a setup for the bike in race trim. Everyone seems to forget Factory Yamaha was completely gone until 2016 with Reed. Obviously 17 and 18 were dud years, though Barcia did have some glimpses of hope on the bike in 2018 with a couple podiums.

You don't just burst back on the scene and start gathering wins and titles that quickly. Seems a lot of that came to a point last year when the bike setups were so off, they had to get TPreston in to ride the bike after Washougal to confirm "yeah, this has gone sideways." Anyone that races that YZ450F at a high level has said with the way the motor and chassis layout is, there is a very fine line between "great" and "not so great" with changing certain setup things. Attention has reverted back to using the stock bike as a baseline, rather than just slapping parts on it left and right first, and having no clue where to revert back to afterwards.

I love how people want to give Aldon the credit when he has said after two laps he was more comfortable and faster on the KTM than the Yamaha.

Behind closed doors he has nothing good to say about Yamaha.

Yep, there's a reason why Barcia did a complete overhaul back to stock and restart the testing process. He didn't change his training or riding, it's the bike that he focused on. I always like to see what the top privateers are running as well. What bikes are competitive without the factory money.

Ooooh insider information.

I've never ever heard a rider say his new bike is so much better than his old bike before either.

I have 0 information but just a feeling from something i noticed;

I think DeCoster has been impressed by Cooper's commitment at the MXdN. I am not saying it is a done deal either but it is always better to impress that Man than not ! Yes the team in the Netherlands was not lucky, but they gave 100%, coming in weeks earlier which was a first and Cooper even raced both motos with a broken hand after a freak racing incident. Those may be strong points the day he moves up in 2 or 3 years (he's still very young!).

EDIT: by that i mean he is maybe watched to replace Musquin when he retires.
