After being at Spring Creek Saturday I'm beyond convinced that the Star Racing Yamaha's have the most power of the class. And you could actually see the difference on the hills, especially that BIG uphill triple. All the 250F's were casing it, but not any of the Star Yamaha's. For how big of a guy Plessinger compared to A-Mart, you would think Martin could clear it easier, but he couldn't without lifting as hard as he could. AP23 didn't need to try hard at all. Skill or not, those Yamaha's definitely are a step above on HP. Yamaha sure knows how to make some serious power!

I noticed the same thing on the TV broacast. Plessinger was brake-tapping that triple while others were casing it.

I don't know what stopped them being able to do it later in the day specifically, but if it is bumps you might find AP was at an advantage because of his height being able to apply more power through the bumps before the take off. It was certainly impressive he was doing it though

Like someone else said in another thread; The cameras don't do any justice for how big the hills are at these tracks. They should have a camera at the bottom of the hill so you can see how far back they have to lean that camera to see up there.

At this time it is probably the case, but don't forget Jmart's crf and Osborne's Husky were pretty much on par I think.

Something quite accurate would be the stats of the starts of each brand/team, and here I don't think they are really dominating (except with Justin Cooper who seems to be a great starter).

I would be surprised if the KTM and Husky didn't make the most peak power.

The Yamaha is probably close in peak HP but makes a lot more power under the curve.

Well there is this guy... kinda knows engines. You've probably never heard of him. Bob Wirth. He's up in Hayward, CA. Knows a little bit about racing fuels too.
Ask the owner of Star Racing about him sometime if you get a chance.

Stupid funny thing..We asked one of the Star Racing crew members during practice and asked "What the hell are you guys feeding those bikes?" He just said, "Yeah Star Racing makes really good engines."

Did Yamaha end up putting a second injector in the airbox like they were doing aftermarket and getting another 3 hp?

A subjective poll about an objective, quantifiable question. Vital delivers again.

Was about to make a similar comment but this one is as clear and concise as can be. Upvote.

Peak horsepower and big cylinder head flow numbers aren't what makes a motocross bike fast. Contrary to popular belief.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good Vital discussion.

He's pretty much worked with most of the MFG's at one time or another on race related engines. I believe he did a lot of work with Shell on Race fuel development then the other brands mentioned. He is well known in the "inter circle" of motor builders. Think factory guys and NASCAR engine builders. Valve train mfg's etc. Not sure how much longer he'll be at it though.

AP was doing the same thing the week before tripling LaRocco's Leap while most others would play it safe and double. Hard to say whether that was from large gnads holding it wide open or the engine was making that much more power.

Ummm what? I didn't say the other bikes can't jump it. I'm saying the effort from the rider needed to make it is almost non-existent on the Yamahas. If you were there and saw it in person lap after lap, you'd understand what I'm saying.
