Why? Are torque wrenches readily available for spline? Also aluminum or stainless nipples? Thx ๐Ÿ™‚

Excel makes a torque wrench and there is a head available for the Excel spline drive nipples.

Next question? Are Dubya/Bulldog spline drive the same standard/wrench as Excel spline drive?

The Dubya nipples are the same spline as the Excel. Although stainless nipples are tougher, Iโ€™ve never had any problems with aluminum.

Dubya spoke sets are great, they typically send you a few extra nipples with each set.

Spline drive it patented so it will be the same no matter the manufacture.

I like spline. Square driveโ€™s too easy to round off, more positive tool engagement with spline

Spline are way better. I have a Fasstco spoke wrench and just ordered the spline head for it when I replaced my spokes and nipples.

No need for a spoke torque wrench. Aluminum nipples are fine, just make sure you have the correct tool. There is zero reason you should even round a square drive nipple.....Unless you are using the incorrect tool.

Spline drive is fine as well, just limits what spoke wrenches you can use. I use the old school pro circuit tool with changeable heads.
