It's clearly an early prototype with further enhancement to follow, but it looks like they have gone for an inverted axial design versus the current trend of transverse mount.

The word is they are going to have a E mini bike along with Cobra. The KTM/ Husqvarna E mini will be a 2020.

Odd choice to put green on the motor. I'm not sure I buy this being an actual prototype, and not just some highly talented Photoshopper looking for clicks. Although being in bed with Monster anything is possible.

Yamaha are moving with the times and doing their best to appear environmentally friendly. Rumour has it there was some push by Monster to have some green in there, but there was no "intent"

Upside---Quick recharge on the battery. Possible Hi/Lo settings for slick conditions.

Going with the green power band and inverted motor right away. Yamaha must be serious.

It's hard to tell if real or PS, but I zoomed in and if you look close the head stay doesn't line up.

It's possible that it just looks like that because it's offset to give it a little flex, on an aluminum frame you put that kind of wattage without some flex you might get a harmonic resonance that would not be pretty, or even survivable. It's clearly pre production but it looks close. Possible they debut it at Vegas like in 97 and shock the world again.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's the Hitachi with the adjustable torque driver motor, maybe the 36v.

Clearly not a real bike. Look closely - the Photoshop hack didn't even remove the vent hose from the gas cap.

You must be joking. Yamaha has multiple electric protypes... and even an electric trails bike. The PW was suppose to be electric by this year or so, but is obviously not.

I think the problem(If you see it as a problem) is the majority doesn't want them. No matter how great they may be or may not, there is simply not enough interest.

Well, if there was no intent, it's like it never happened.
