Congratulations! Truck looks great!...........Sorry for going off subject. I have a 2011 GMC and it hasn’t cleaned the exhaust filter in 3000 miles. Has anyone had experience with this? I thought I read somewhere that it is supposed to clean it every 750 miles.

Are you giving it a chance to do a regen? Do any long trips recently?

I have the opposite experience. The reason you need the warranty is to fix the emmissions systems. The rest of the powertrain is very reliable.

FYI, I’m friends with a Cummins sales rep, and he informed me that federal law requires manufacturers to warranty emissions equipment for a period of 5 years regardless of miles on the truck.
I have a newer diesel with a cummins. I'd love for that to be true about the emissions warranty, but my warranty very specifically says 80,000 miles on emissions. The emissions are the weak link in most of these newer rigs. Sure, there are a few gremlins here and there, but overall it's the emissions that cause most of the trips to the dealer.

Not particularly. I don’t quite understand am I giving it a chance to regen. It tells you when you’re in exhaust cleaning mode. It just hasn’t happened in a long time. Should I take a long ride? Or should I have the regen forced? Thanks for the reply! Bought this truck used, I’ve been super happy with the truck. Just starting to get worried.

Or like you before, they buy a rig thats not built for what they want and have to add all kinds of shit to try and make it better......

I read on here People putting air bags on a prius for example...
Not everyone can afford a damn $90000 truck!! Congratulations for the OP and unless his ass is loaded he has a $1200 a month payment ... try not to be so critical of the rest of us surviving in your world.

I understand. But you see people on here who want to put a 3 rail bike rack on the back of a Saturn, then add air bags, crap like that ........why not just buy a Ford Ranger or some other mini truck?

I dread the day i have to replace my 2000 7.3. I pull 7500 lbs and get 15.2 mpg. Have 132k on the clock and she still gets 18.4 empty around town and 22 roughly highway empty. Airbags, brake assist, air ride 5th wheel, upgraded brakes. K&N filter. Loud but drives like a dream
I have a '97 7.3 that is a stone dead reliable truck, a tank of a truck, but I love that thing.

My dad has a 2000 F250 7.3 as well with 380K on the clock, Tranny went out at 120k but that's about all that's been a problem with it.

Not a fan of the newer emission stuff, Too complicated for me. Congrats OP, That is a beautiful truck.

Nice, I would've like to get a big diesel, but for my uses a 1/2 ton gasser made more sense. Last month I traded my 15 year old Silverado in on a new one, hope this one last as long...

they only do a rejen if they are on the highway and nice and hot. they don't like to be interrupted while trying to burn off all the BS.

Never heard of such a thing. They'll regen anywhere.

If you get a message that you should continue to drive due to a regen, its because your drive cycle hasnt allowed it to complete one as of late, and it needs to complete. If you use your truck even remotely like its supposed to be used (more than a 2 mile commute day in day out with nothing else ), you'll never see this message. The only way youll know its in regen is from the smell, and the drop in fuel eco.

Rolled over a 100 miles today, and took the new wheels down to beautiful Flint Michigan - home of the Tropics - for work today.

Got 19 mpg cruising at 72 - and didn’t get one regen message. I’m going to drive it until something goes wrong (if it does), then I’ll worry about pulling the emission b.s. off!!

Nice I just picked up a new one last Wednesday, pretty much same truck, just different color. My 2016 superduty was deleted, but I think I’m gonna leave this one stock. It stank so bad hooking up trailers or idling in the morning, plus it’s a pain in the ass when you have to go back to stock to sell it and all the censors are packed full of shit and it throws codes. But god damn 640 horsepower at the crank is fun...

I almost went diesel as well. But I went raptor as I’ve always wanted one and I won’t be pulling anything more than a small enclosed. Coming off a tundra I’ve owned for 17 years, it’s definitely a change. It’s been almost two decades since I’ve bougjt a truck and the prices of these things are craaaazy. I’m enjoying it, but Since it’s started snowing, im really missing the lightness, lack of fancy electrical bs and size of my tundra. I would have ran it into the ground but it was starting to nickel and dime me. Never thought I’d buy a domestic...

Congrats on the new truck! Kinda wish I would’ve went with the superduty or a 6.4 hemi. My 1500 with 33-12.50 20s gets 11.3 around town and 20 on the highway pulling or empty. 8 speed is awesome for power.

I don’t believe the particulate filter and def injection is in that, but the hardware on the engine is. And a side note, did you know that Cummins doesn’t warranty the 6.7’s in the Rams, those engines are warranted by Ram. Or so I’m told by the Cummins rep

More powerful engines(bigger) engines work less hard is my theory.

For example, my truck barely changes with a 10K trailer from empty. At 14,000 with the 3 axle toyhauler, its less, but not that bad.

My old 24 Valve Cummins was 22 empty, 18 towing the 3 axle. The last one sad to say is barely better than a 6.4 Hemi and not worth the extra cost.....

To be honest, the diesel emissions has killed the mileage. Im curious if Ford still drops the 7.0 gasser. That would interest me. GM should bring back the 8.1 but the 502 Crate/Marine engine. With a turbo or blower too.

800 HP and ~ 800 Ft lbs with minimal boost..........sign me up.
There will be a new big block gas engine next year I believe for the SD's.

Super Duties have aluminum bodies as well. It is completely different in most areas under the skin.

That is an amazing looking truck OP, congrats. Wow, a 48 gallon tank, didn't know they offered that.

My 2013 F350 dually is over five years old and has been flawless. Never been in for any kind of repair. I have it as a tow vehicle and moto hauler so it only has 50,000 miles on it but I tow a 44-ft. toy hauler through the mountains and used to tow a 28 foot cabin cruiser. It's stock and gets about 10MPG towing and 14.5 MPG around town and hauling motos.

You used to only be able to get the big tank on the longbed trucks. It's been opened up to the crew cab shortbeds as well starting with the 2017 redesign, and the capacity increased.

My Raptor has a 35 gallon tank and love the range. The only bummer is having the pump shut off at $100 and still needing to put another $20 in it if it's empty!

I didn't know that about the Ram. I have the Titan XD Pro4X with the Cummins. Truck has been great. At 105K and running like a champ. It's a new venture for Nissan, but they took off the shelf parts (Cummins engine, Aisin Tranny with guts from a Ram 3500) and put them in their truck. So far, so good. Knock on wood...

If I’m not mistaken, that was all originally built for the Ram 1500, then Ram took a different route and went with the EcoDiesel. Since Cummins and Aisin already had the engine and trans developed and ready for a half ton, they worked out a deal with Nissan for the Titan. I did find it interesting they went with a V8 as opposed to an I6, though. Glad to hear it’s running well for you.
