Ok I didn't really use his child support, calm down, I bought it for him. He turns 7 in a few months and he's never been around moto until late last year when I got back into it and has been asking for a bike since the Houston Supercross. I've been keeping an eye out for a few months, but all I've found was over priced junk or "lost title" bikes. He got a '19 CRF50 and then we started with the learning to ride process, he was riding by himself after about 15 min and a throttle adjustment. His first track day will be this Saturday on the kids track. Mom is already a nervous wreck lol.

You're already cooler than his real dad (probably a quad rider). Nice buy!

How much?
I think with gear and all that crap it was like $2500. They don't budge on price much, but I got them down some. If it holds up anywhere close to the '94 z50 I had as an adult I'll be happy as that thing was a tank.

His dad is more of a "friend" to him. Just lets him play video games and sit around watching tv. Sadly I was the one that had to take his training wheels off his bike and teach him to ride without them and he was about to turn 6 when that happened.

Haha funny thread title. So cool of you to give him the best gift ever! When he’s done with it buy some tall bars, pit bike suspension, and exhaust and you have a super fun pit/play bike for you and him. Cool

As a fellow stepdad I commend you for the purchase. I've been in my step-daughter's life for about 7 years now and being a step-dad is a special relationship because you chose to marry the mom and the kid. I also started riding because of my step-dad, he rode in the 70s and 80s and basically was my guiding force.

I can only support this if you can confirm that his mom has offered 50/50 to the dad with no CS requirement, he declined, and she negotiated an absolute bare-minimum in CS. Otherwise, she's a baby-mamma-terrorist and you are an accomplice.

Love these threads, raised by single mom, taught myself to ride/moto in early 20's, so the dad-son thing always pulls at my heart strings a bit. Winning the Dad game you are! Congrats to you and little dude.

Oooh I spot something different on the 2019 model. That looks like new plastics up front?

Not sure, I haven't looked into it at all. Number plate different maybe?

Way to step up. They learn so fast at 7, my guess is he will be asking for a 65 by Christmas.

Thats super awesome! My step dad got me a z50 when I was like 12 cause I wanted a dirtbike sooooooo bad. I rode the frikkin wheels off that thing (they are a tank) and he eventually saw that I really was in love and bought me a 97 rm 125! He took me to the track all the time and eventually bought himself a bike cause he was tired of just watching me. All these years later I still ride and all my kids now ride. All because he was willing to invest time and money into me, his step son. I am so greatful and lucky to have had him around, without my stepdad getting me going and teaching me to work on them Im sure I would have turned out to be a different person. Praise God for awesome moto step dads!

Common sense would tell you CS is a touchy subject with a lot of people..

Nice! I bought one brand new for my son a few years ago. Those things will pretty much run on water. Hard to beat. Rode the snot out of it for three years. Paid $1275...sold it for $900 and could've sold it about ten times (didn't ask enough apparently!). They hold their value cause people want them. Congrats to you and junior.

Start looking for a 125 2-stroke now.

The little ankle biter will be there before you know it.

He did pretty good for his first time. Later in the day he started to fall a few times. Figured out it was between him being tired and the dirt being dry powder, neither are a good mix for someone new. He's already asking when he can ride the big track when its the kids turn lol. Now that I have him hooked on bikes I'll get him hooked on cars too (I'm building a '69 Camaro) and he'll never be able to afford drugs lol.
