I was about to initiate the facepalm, and then I read what you paid.

Nice find, dude!

The 144 kit should go on immediately. I have spent a little time on a 12 model Husky CR144. It is amazing what a difference the top end swap makes, killer bike.

Speaking from experience, not sure if "Bigoldbeef" and 125cc 2 strokes (even with big bore kits) are a a good idea...Wink

But it is a good buy, for that price you can't go wrong!

It was at a dealership called "North Georgia Powersports," around 20 miles south of Tennessee. This was their last 12 model, they had a 13 though, but wanted $3999 OTD. I found the bike advertised on cycletrader.com

Congrats! It's a great bike, you'll love it.

As said put the 144 kit in pronto, check your sag, these bikes tend to need a heavier than usual shock spring. Stock is really light and not well balanced with the fork springs. Don't use the OEM holeshot device, it is junk.

Nice. That's less than half the price of a new 4-stroke, and a whole lot more fun! Plus, way less expensive in the long run.

At that price, one could buy two and have spare. Congrats!!!

So just a little follow up. Bike currently has 21 hard hours on it and is still in 125 form. Original rings. Running 32:1 as the manual calls for.

I ordered a scalvini pipe for it and I'm gonna install the 144 kit as soon as i get the pipe.

The stock jetting was terrible. It pulled hard on top but the needle had to go. Took me about 3 rides to get the jetting right for the 50 degree weather I've been riding in.

Another thing I found out was that the bike would NOT idle on LL100 avgas. I ran strictly that for the first 17 hours, then the other day I started running a 50/50 mix of 110 Cam 2 Sunoco fuel and 90 octane ethanol free pump gas. The bike runs the same as it did on LL100 but it actually will idle for more than 2 seconds without dying now.

The suspension is good. I set the sag and messed with the clickers and it works well for my 180-185lbs. The bike pulls me around really well for only being a 125.

Had 1 flat rear tire. The original rear tire is just about shot. Chain/Sprockets still look new.

So far so good, really impressed with the Husky's performance so far! I'm really interested to find out how much of a difference the 144 kit and pipe makes!

A friend got one (13) for his son. Bike rips. Jetting was good for here in Ga. He did fall in a corner and broke the hard black plastic part of the shroud. Seems they are ridged and not as tough as you would think. He got his near the start of summer and paid $4500 OTD. they seem to be decent bikes!

Get a 165 jug and never look back!

I've got the 165 top end & KTM 200 pipe on my 09 and its incredible. 125 handling with actual horsepower!
Bought the 09 new for $3695 and just bought a new 2014 CR125 w/ 144 top end for $3999 OTD (no sales tax in OR Cool ).

I'm gonna ride the wheels off the 09' then swap my good parts to the 2014 and ride the wheels off that for 5 years. I know its the 'in thing' to rag on the Italian Husky's, but these have been my favorite bikes ever. Glad I got 2 of them for the cost of 1 KTM (aka new Husky)125.

So what exactly is done for a 165 top end?

Hey BigoldBeef, it was great meeting you at Briarcliff a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't able to stick around long enough for us to trade bikes for a couple of laps like we had talked about. I'm trying to get back down to BC this weekend, hunt me down if you make the trip.

Bore only w/ bridge reinforcement before plating and uses off the shelf Wossner piston.
Guy in Montana builds em and they've proven super reliable.

Hey man! I pulled in after I spun a few laps and I saw you were already loaded up! I may go Sunday if the rain holds off, have to wait and see!

Saw a guy post on cafehusky who claims he went 143 hours on the 165 piston&rings. Pretty crazy for such a small bore

Those Wossner pistons are a damn pretty piece of work.

You may notice that while I don't discourage it, I also don't endorse it. It's up to an individual whether they want to contribute or not.
