No matter how you slice it, folks don’t join the chair force you put themselves in harms way. I’m not saying all chair force personnel are snowflakes, I’m saying all snowflakes in the military are in the chair force. I have 2 family members in that branch. If I could go back in time, I’d of chosen that branch, but whatever, just don’t kid yourself.

You guys servicing the country should get a free house, vehicle, food and a toy.

That can definitely be true, but most of the AF personnell I met were utmost professionals and were very good at their job. Marines are kind of a wild bunch, we get the crazier/weirder/machoer/and even the nerdier people who think theyll just become badasses, people who only wanna legally kill people-those people disgust me, and we get a lot of fuck ups who r trying to get whipped in to shape... so not gonna lie a lot of the lower tier people from society, the AF definitely took things much more serious. Thats not to say were not trained damn good its just an odd bunch. They were in a lot of the same places as most military personnell 99% of people in the military are POGs regardless of branch. One thing tho the fwd air controllers in the AF are the tip of the tip of the spear. Those guys get dropped behind enemy lines with a radio to call in airstrikes theyre badass mofos. Anywayss were getting off track and Im jealous of the track OP rides at with palm trees...

It's a great place, sandy, big jumps, great layout and most importantly 21 miles from my house. If your ever in Northwest Florida you need to hit this place up.

I havent made up my mind yet, we will see. I am jelly of medical, they are always so happy over there. Holidays and weekends off, 8-5. I think the shift work is what soured me the most, 12 hour mids for 6+ months will do that. We will see. Thanks for your service and advise. Definately plan on VA and applying for disability I have some nerve damage and back problems from my first two deployments.
I did 20 in the Army. 12 of my 20 yrs were overseas and 12 of them were shift work. And I'm talking critically undermanned, super shitty hours sometimes with very little time off and not seeing my family on weekends or holidays for months to years. There were many times I swore I would not re-up. But I'll tell you what, it's nice being in the blue card club now and I could show you some medical bills that Tricare covered that would have really sucked if I wasn't retired-mil. It isn't for everyone, but you have to think really hard. I cringe when I hear what some civilians are paying for healthcare and prescriptions. I can't tell you how often guys who got out say to me "I wish I would have stayed in... I'd already be retired"

Agree. Tricare picked up my air life flight and icu week when I waded up in 2015. I’ve heard both sides, I know plenty that got out and are happy they did so with no regrets. Just depends on you and your situation. I have a bachelors, going to grad school for occupational therapy (doctorate) and if all else fails my dad would kill to have me work and take over the family medical billing business. For me no fixed retirement or pay is worth another 10 years of my life and well being / heart. Ive given it a lot of thought, considered all my options including going O but being a Mr and close to family are my priorities, and I have a solid game plan unlike many that get out. Appreciate the advice and your service.

Congrats on the new bike and thank you and all the others on here for your service, passed and current members of all the branches. I myself currently serve and just hit the 21 year mark and plan on doing 30+, if I make the next promotion in a couple years! I feel you in the fact that sometimes you feel like the job is unrewarding but I thank you for the weather briefs since I can't do my job as a test pilot without your briefs. In my 21 years I can honestly say I have never had a bad interaction with any AF weather squadron. I'm thankful that after all these years the pros far out-way the cons and I thoroughly enjoy my job which has allowed me to be financially secure and able to keep riding dirt bikes all these years! Agreed, County Line is a very fun track but I think I prefer Monster Mountain myself, ha, ha. Best of luck in whatever you choose to do, continue in the military or move on to the next chapter in your life!
