And I have a kit to upgrade it to 48 volts already.
My son's birthday is tomorrow, and these were out of stock since before Christmas until today.

Now bring out the classy anti-electric gentlemen to badmouth a 5 year olds birthday present!

Thank you. He's been riding since right before he turned 2.
Already got the bug. Thanks to Alta I built a track last year for us. Basically after 5pm we don't ride loud bikes. Also got an old KX65 and a rekluse, and lowering links for it. Trying to avoid the fast 50s and he's big for his age so that helps a lot.
His sister turned 2 in December and throws a fit if she doesn't get to ride on my Alta and pitbike with me. So far I've helped 7 kids get the Moto bug which is much more enjoyable than dealing with most adults.

I'm pretty impressed for the price. The rear fender was busted off in the crate, but no problems besides that.
The suspension is the same as all the Chinese pit bikes are using. They claim it is for kids over 13 and between 100-130 pounds... Whatever it's perfectly fine for a kid that can handle a 24 inch seat height.
It pulled my 220 lb ass around just as good as a PW50 but better off the line.
It'll probably hold up better to jumping than a PW50 for sure. I gotta figure out if overvolting to 48 volts is safe since the motor mounts inside the swing arm. The battery is centered in the bottom of the traditional engine compartment,
so it has a very low center of gravity.
Mechanical discs are good enough for a peewee bike. Probably gonna take this to our local arenacross track sometime next week with the Honda xr50 for a backup.
The front tire is 12 inches instead of the traditional 10 so the bumps and rocks should be a little less gnarly for the little guys.
The power and speed are adjustable.
Everything is better than a slower gas 50 but the seat is 3 to 4 inches taller than a PW or Honda.

How’s the suspension? One problem I found with these types, the forks and shock are way stiff. Of course they are marketed to older kids that should be riding 85s.

I need to compare the suspension to an old Polini that I bought for $100 with no engine. It may be ok for a kid who likes to jump. We'll have it at an arenacross practice track on Tuesday or Thursday to test it out.

Here's the guts of the bike.
Motor rated 36 volts 1000 watts. I think it should handle a 48 volt 10 amp hour battery. That would be 480 watts I think,
but correct me if I'm wrong. ttery

One piece 36 volt 10 amp hour battery (stock).

The battery is exactly 1/3 the size of these 12 volt 10 amp hour batteries. I have ten of these. I think I can wire one 12 volt in a series with the 36 volt stock battery. Or I could just use 4 of the smaller batteries. Pretty sure both configurations will work, but I'm not an expert on this.12 more volts should bump the speed up from 19mph to about 25. There's room for 60 volts in the first battery picture, and the side covers go back on without interference....

I'll post controllers and throttles in a few...

Stock 36 volt controller. I will need to replace it with a 48 volt controller. The 3 knobs control speed, power, and throttle response. Probably gonna need to bypass the 3 knobs to use a 48 volt scooter kit.

Good job Dad. Your kid will never forget that gift. I still remember back when I was a kid and dad got me a mini bike for my birthday. Best birthday ever. Mom was not happy about it but she got over it. It started the obsession that is still going today .

Hope your kid enjoys.

I have to recommmend going Lipo. I did it with my oset 12.5 and dropped 14 pounds by doing so. You could run two 22.2v in series. The full charge of those batteries are around 25.2v, so that would put you at 50.4v. Price would depend on the milliamperes hours and C rating. It also looks like the bike would be able to accept hydraulic brakes from a mountain bike, shimano. Kelly controller and Magura POT throttle would be sweet

Thanks for the tips. I'm probably going to try to get by with the cheap scooter kit, and lithium batteries that I already have. I'm waiting to find out how much the electric KTM mini is going to be when it's released later this year. There's a new GasGas arriving in about 2 months, and I am also waiting for info on suspension parts for it. The GasGas should be about $2000, and hopefully the KTM is close to that but I'm not getting my hopes up over KTM pricing.

Kid tried it in the house today. Yep, suspension is way stiff to the point where it doesn't squat a mm with his 48 lbs on it..
Slid the forks up 1.5 inches. The shock is 9 inches eye to eye, and I ordered a 7.5 inch shock for $20 to lower the rear.

Pretty snowy here but we'll have it out in the 60ft garage tomorrow, and the indoor track on Tuesday. I'll put something on YouTube.
Only running it stock at 36 volts for now. If he's ready and wants 48 volts we'll put the big bore kit in it.

I , too, am anxiously awaiting the release of the KTM e50 but I'm certainly not expecting a $2K price tag. The 50SX is $4,300 so unfortunately, I'm guessing all of that and then some.

My 2016 CRF450r sold for 3500 and a KTM 50 is $4300 brand new. WOWWWWW that is some serious coin for a little 50.

If you have welding skills (which I don't) it would be easy to mod an old Cobra, Polini, or KTM 50 with a 48 or 60 volt scooter kit. I was going to do that.

As far as 50 prices being crazy, that's why I am embracing electric and an old KX65 with a rekluse, cut down seat, throttle stop, and lowering links.

$4000 plus for a 50 or 65 is what I consider being ripped off. I want to enjoy life and Moto, but I won't throw money away like that unless the kid begs to try and win Loretta's some day. So far, it doesn't look like we are going to bother with the big time ever. So, cheap as we can it is.

I was under the impression that more volts got you more speed and more amp hours got you more ride time.

Batteries are made by Dakota Lithium. They all use 18650 cells as far as I know. Not sure how you can claim they are shit without knowing what brand of cells are inside.

Put the shorter shock on. After sliding the forks up 1.5 inches and dropping the rear about 3 inches, with a cut home made step seat... The seat height is now 21 inches instead of the stock 25 inches.
The new shock is a pogo stick that doesn't move much with him on it. Good enough for an after 5 bike on our track at home. Only had the adjustments at 25 percent. Stock it will definitely blow a PW or Hondacrf50/Yamaha ttr50 away until it hits the 19mph top speed.
Again, a 48 volt scooter kit should bump it up to 25 mph and closer to the power of a fast 50 but with more torque on a holeshot. Gonna try to get it to the indoor track when the roads dry up and get some video up for those interested in the bike.

Cool glad to see he is having fun with it. My kid has been on his since Christmas. He has put quite a few hours on it already. The brake pads have wore pretty quick and had to tighten the chain a few times but other than that it has been solid, and he is already going way harder on it than i ever thought he would (He will be 7 in a couple months).

Let us know how the 48v upgrade goes. So far i honestly think the 36v is fast enough but was considering going to a higher amp hour 13ah or 15ah for a little more tourqe up hills also wouldn't need to change the controller going that route. If he isn't able to carry his momentum into big hills it can get a little sluggish.

Good to hear it's holding up well. I will upgrade to 48volts 10ah in one or 2 months. Gotta wait for our track at home to warm up and dry up.

Here are 2 videos to compare it to his Honda 50.
He's a little scared of the mud and rusty from a long winter. Again 0-19mph the electric bike wins hands down on acceleration, and it can be de-tuned in a second to be way slower and gutless.
The Honda was in 3rd gear the whole time.
