2018 MXR demo from Motovate Performance in Victor,
NY. Kyler really seemed to know the Alta products, and moto in general. My local gas bike dealers in Pennsylvania don't know the difference between a spark plug and an inner tube.

It's still a novelty recharge time and battery needs to be better. Also like the concepts that I've seen with a clutch and multi speed transmission.

It all depends on the individual.

After almost a year with my Alta, my 2 stroke is going up for sale. The MX does everything I need it to, and I am never left short on battery, or twiddling my thumbs waiting on charging.

Yeah it’s funny that the guys that have them that post first hand info of not having issues with battery life and recharge time are never heard but there are those that “think” they need more.

Just ran the battery down on my track with a little help from a friend.
Together my new track and MXR are already the best Moto/fun investment I have ever made!

First ride report.

The bad parts first...

-Black rims are an ugly trend. The Warp9 wheel sets are great quality parts so I wil learn to live with them. The spacers stay put when remounting the wheels!

-Black seats get hot. Stop cooking my balls with black seat covers!
The grip, shape, and foam density are very nice!

-Rear brake is too touchy and the pedal tip is not grippy enough. There are cheap fixes for that.

-The small diameter, full diamond, Renthal grips don't work well for my big hands.

-Not sure about the bar bend. No such thing as a universal perfect bar bend for everyone. Overall the ergonomics are pretty good.

The good-

-This thing turns similar to a Suzuki. Tight S turns are so easy without worrying about stalling and clutching to be smooth. Just roll the throttle and lean side to side. You don't feel the weight in S turns. This bike made me corner faster and easier right away! I had some moist fresh dirt thanks to my Cadillac tractor.

The front brake is awesome. My lever was too high and far out, but I wanted to beat the downpour that was coming, so I just rode it.

Map 3 is perfect for me. I can't hang on to map 4 very long before tiring and dropping my elbows, then sliding back, then resting before wrecking.

Once I was shot it was cool to put around in map 2 trying to focus on technique. Putting in map 1 with my son on the pitbike/peewee track was was nice too. Can't do that on my 500 or 250 2 strokes so easily.

This bike is awesome. Best bike I've owned in 21 years of riding. Still gotta test the suspension and learn how to configure those air forks.

It feels so good to ride after 5pm without feeling like I am bothering anyone.

Can you post some details on that discer?? Is it made to be pulled by a truck? How does it work? And how would you describe the soil you're using it in?

Gravelly top soil. Just a really old basic set of discs with a pintle hook. They were made by John Deere a long long time ago. What you see there is redneck engineering.

I love the bike. Been riding almost every day. I even feel faster on my gas bikes because the Alta allows me to focus more on developing better technique. It's pretty much everything Ping and ML say it is in the videos.

My only real major dislike is the AER 48 air forks. They are awful in small breaking bumps and skiddish in rough/loose turns. Seems to be a common complaint with these forks. Worst stock forks I've ever had in 21 years of riding. The 13 year old Showa twin Chambers on my 05 RM250 are far superior to the stock AER 48. I will be sending the suspension off this winter, and riding the shit out of it until then.

No trails yet, but it's very capable if not on a long ride.

Oddly enough, I feel my AER48 forks are the best ones I’ve had on a bike. Most say they’re extremely comparable to the kYB Yamaha forks.

Tried down to 135psi and playing with the clickers.
I am 225 lbs, so even when set too soft for jumping the forks still feel bad. I will be getting a spring conversion done and a new spring+ revalve on both ends. The shock is soft for my size, which was expected, but feels controllable. I'm just glad the seat foam isn't paper thin.

Mike put 148 lbs in them see what happens. Back it off by 3 pounds every adjustment.

First of all... nice track! Do people from all those homes share it with you?

Glad to hear another Alta success story. I'm definitely interested.

For a place like that with close neighbors it looks like a great solution. Happy neighbors is priceless. I also love the disc plow you have, I use an almost identical set up I pull behind a big 4 wheel drive F350. I weigh it down with 320 pounds of concrete cause our dirt is dang hard this time of year. Problem is lots of hills are on our track are still way too steep to go up or down even with 4 wheel drive and new tires!!

Most of the neighbors have ATVs or sidexsides. The house next to me is for sale with another mx track on it if anyone wants to move to a Moto dead spot with a ton of snow. The little ski slope is 1 mile away too.

I will have a real tractor delivered within the next 2 weeks. 97hp with a cab and loader. Those compact tractors are a rip off. Might as well get a big one for the same or less $. My old Escalade work truck doesn't like pulling discs but it's been working pretty good on flat ground. No way it would pull up hills. I can also pull water from the creek with my 5x8 trailer with a 300 gallon tote and 2 inch gas pump. Not ideal, but it's a cheap starting point to keep the dust down for now.

That's still funny, but I don't have any hair. I'd rather pretend it was Osborne's bike until I get around to putting my number on it.
