2021 Beta 300 RX. A little heavy, a little undersprung, and fast as hell.

I've got one of the new for 22 Ohlins rear shocks with the Xtrig style preload adjuster on its way along with an FMF Factory pipe (I'm sticking with my modded can, it's perfect) and the newer High Velocity Lectron.

New for 22 ohlins rear shocks? The 22's coming with it?
No, Ohlins is changing their shock for 22, with an Xtrig style adjuster . The Beta will still have the Sachs, which isn't as bad as the magazines pretend it is, in my opinion. The forks are too soft, they remind me of a better but similar situation to the Showas that came on Honda 250s from 92-96... They were too soft, but also harsh at the same time. How does a fork blow through the stroke AND bash your wrists when it does so? A little more spring, a little more oil, and a little stiffer valving and the fork will be great. It is, after all, the fork that came on the 09-12 Honda 450s that most people liked, if I'm not mistaken.

I think they might have overdone the front brake, I don't think I've ridden anything that grabbed so hard from the showroom floor. For the guys that know brakes, it's the older 27mm piston Nissin that used to come on Japanese bikes before they switched to the lighter 24mm piston caliper. Overdone is prob a strong word, perhaps "approach with caution"

The motor is a bullet. It's a 6 speed that more like a 125 than a 6 speed Enduro. It really rips thru 2-3-4 and makes it feel even faster than it is, I think. Need more seat time at a bigger track to really stretch it out. The place I went last weekend was a bit Mickey Mouse

Compared to what it would weigh if I was on the R&D team. It would have the 4 cell battery for the MX version, no stem lock, no kickstand mount tab, no o ring chain, no dual metal sprocket. That's approaching 3-3.5 lbs on no brained stuff. I'd pull 6th gear out of the transmission too. This bike will do 90.
(For all you Florida/Croom old schoolers, before they paved Croom road, you could put your ass on the fender and your chin on the bars and pass traffic on I-75, for everyone else, totally ignore that)

After purchase mods now that I've taken off the production line hat:
Tubliss
Ti everything
Take off the exhaust guard
Put MX pipe on, offroad pipes are thick/heavy

The Rads are constructed with braces similar to what that guy in North Carolina does for a sizeable fee, so it's good there. Rad brace companies, don't bother with this one, unless it's some kooky caged Hard Enduro thing, I wasn't accounting for boulder fields, I crash more traditionally.

After that, you're a shade under TC250 territory, give it take.
