I just noticed he seems to run his levers very far in from the grips.

Great pic!

You're right mate, I dont know of its just the angle but check out where his front brake lever finish's, it looks barely overlapping the throttle grip!

Yeah it's the angle kinda. When you zoom in it looks more normal.

It was a hunter thing. He must have broke a lever in an important race or something one day. They run there levers in about an inch more then normal to protect them in a crash.

And they said they like how it changes the pull, you have more leverage that way

The leverage advantage on the pull would be better but the lever would sit further from the grip. I wonder if they use standard shaped levers or just adjust how far out the standard lever sits.

They only use stock levers. Not even a factory replica. They tried to make them use wc levers but they won't. Jett used the clutch last year. But both stock levers this year. Apparently the sponsor isn't to happy about it.

They run them in as part of a technique. The further in your levers are the more natural it feels to have your elbows out and still have a finger on the controls.

I remember Hunter saying his lever position is why he cannot run Twinwalls. Not enough room on the bars.

I never liked the feel of grabbing the lever close to the perch and the feel of the angle changing so much during the stroke - especially with the clutch. Plus using lots of fingers to get the power. After riding a lot of mtb using one finger on the very end of the lever I converted my mx bike to the same set up.
Otherwise I don’t understand what the rest of the lever is for dangling out past your hand.

You are stoked you got to shoot him with a black background. This might have been the only opportunity to capture him without red plates this season. I'm stoked I got to shoot him at Pala on the retro Honda as that is probably a one-off opportunity as well. That retro bike is so sexy, Honda should run it again at the last round.

I run my levers like that too. I like the leverage you get with them inboard.

I've run my levers in like that since the early 1990s. Better leverage and easier to get th elbows out.
