Sould Herlings go for AMA motocross this year ?

3/14/2022 1:27pm Edited Date/Time 3/23/2022 10:41am
Does anyone know if he has any intentions to go to USA this year to race ? MXGP is over for him so this must be the best time ever for him to come over and race. And i think ktm will need some help to stop tomac to go 24-0

He should, he probably won't because he is contracted to race MXGP. Would be an epic move that would add to his legend.

that would be awesome. Come win this title with the cards he has been dealt. But ya he can't/won't because his series is MXGP

You don’t think a guy like Herlings has the pull to convince KTM to let him race over here 🙄

Other then the obvious issues of Herlings being contracted to race MXGP, the other issues would be track styles & heat.

The US nationals tracks won’t give Herlings as much as an advantage as the MXGP tracks would. He’s learned his craft in deep sand, crappy weather & slippery hard pack. Within MXGP you have the complete test of a rider & Herlings as no weakness.

AMA tracks in general are kept within a smaller window of terrain, so Herlings wouldn’t be able to use his full skill set.

KTM should get his ass over here, if they want a shot at a title in 22. KTM is a racing company and wants to win titles. What’s the point to comeback and race MXGP for nothing with only 20 guys on the gate.

Contracts are meant to be amended(edit- when convenient to the players), it'd be great to have him here.

Does it makes sense to y'all to send Eli Tomac over for an MXGP round or two for fun during our AMA season?

*First!

Besides he doesn't beat 101 if he races the Nationals

He could race 3-4 GPs, get his record and then still make it in time for Pala Round 1 Whistling
Where is he at now, 98? 99?

Why go out of his comfort zone to race a lower tier series? Anything can happen in mxgp, a few bad rounds for the other guys and he has a shot.

It's definitely wishful thinking, but man Herlings vs Tomac would be fun.

We all know webb won't get them a outdoor title. Herlings would be there only shot at a title over here.

I don’t see anyone beating the Star Yamaha boys (Tomac & Ferrandis) for the outdoor title unless Herlings came over. 3 guys battling for the title is better than 2 guys…

It wouldn't make sense for KTM to let Herlings come to the states. If he did, they wouldn't have any 450s in MXGP.

If Jorge Prado is still holding his own in MXGP, they could maybe afford to let Herlings come to the U.S. I sure would like to see it, anyway.

Anyone making sense gets anonymous downvotes. To the Vits yes it makes sense. Sadly it makes perfect sense to them.

He smoke everyone at Ironman when he showed up at the last minute to race in 2018. Was pretty badass of him to want to show up and race us on our tracks just because of all the trash talking that was going on then .

Prado's riding a GasGas this year.

Factory KTM is Herlings (MXGP) & Tom Vialle (MX2)

It would be really cool. I wonder how he would go with the production bike rule. Not being able to change frames etc. I imagine his mxgp bike would be significantly different.

It's not just KTM that he's contracted to race MXGP with. There are a host of team sponsors and in particular personal domestic sponsors like Jumbo and Nestaan who wouldn't be too happy.

http://www.jeffreyherlings.eu/en/sponsors/

IMO it would be way too complicated/expensive for him to get the green light from them all.

wasnt there a backstory on what frame and swingarm he could use. they were going to let him slide with euro spec? How would anyone know if he used a euro frame? do they really check if not protested?
