So I'd go with Jett on this one.

The worst part of the whole take is that Jett is riding against stiffer competition than JS7 did .

Sorry, I don't go for the theory that James (or Ricky or Everts) only dominated people because they faced lesser competition. That's just foolish.

A series can be competitive if there is parity and none of the riders are transcendent.

Jett will probably have a nice Roczen like career with several titles. Can't wait to see his style work on a 450.

X2 100 % . RC and James made some amazing riders look ordinary, that s how good they were . The same goes for Everts. I often think if the USA got to see the Tortelli we did ,Everts would be held in higher regard speed wise . Him and Tortelli in 98 were insane fast and about as equal as u get . Its just Tortelli could not stay not injury free since 98 . He could of gave RC a run for a championship outdoors imo

Yep.

Much stiffer competition from fully professional factory contracted, training farm kids.

Stiffer? Than Reed, Langston and Brown? Or being a 125 vs a field of 250 four strokes?

Yeah the guys Bubba raced all starting racing as adults, and raced on the side. Come on bro…

Since the 90’s the top factory riders were raised from kids to race moto…with the possible exception of Dowd…they all raced from peewee to pro’s and did little else.

The only thing that has changed is now factory teams are signing them for their last year of amateurs and first two or so years as a pro…when back then they signed their factory contract after their last LL’s….but they were still on great equipment…because of social media, now you just see all the training the top amateurs do…when back then nobody saw it because there was no internet.

And I’ll point out that we are now on page 6 of some people trying to convince other people that Jett is next level….

Nobody had to convince anyone else that Bubba was next level…we all just KNEW…so the fact that there is now 6 pages of arguing about Jett kind of proves that he’s not there yet.

For the all time greats, and game changers (like Bubba) there is no argument….everyone just recognized their greatness when they see it, no convincing required.

Is he more talented than Jett? To early to tell in my opinion. Keeping a bike on two wheels is a great talent to have and James severely lacked in that department.

Except……

Remember when ‘you guys’ talked about how today’s US amateur system did such a horrible job of preparing young racers for their pro careers?

Which is it now?

As an RD fan it was pretty painful in 2012(?) when Stew was just fast enough to hold off Dungey each moto until he crashed at Thunder Valley.

Holy shit not even close. James is the best rider to throw his leg over a “small bike” (125 or 250f) just as RC is the goat and smoked everts the sand master in his back yard. Don’t compare Jett to James yet….. Jett is good but come on, not the same level.I will be surprised if he wins both sx and mx next year whereas you knew James was winning.

Would anyone be completely shocked if Jett wins the next two titles in SX and outdoors? What about if Jett wins almost every race? What if Jett wins every moto next summer? Hey, it COULD happen, right?

Stewart is 2nd all time in Supercross wins, only rider besides the goat to have an undefeated season. 1st all time in 125 outdoor wins…..No offense to Jett but it isn’t fair to compare him to James.

You really think Cooper and Hampshire are faster than guys like Brown, Hepler, Reed, Hughes and Langston? That’s so cute.

Jett has shown the ability to win from the front and from behind. He is one of the best passers I can recall. Ring a bell?

When Jett goes undefeated in next years nationals can we begin to compare him to James?

Really though, Jett has patience. Bubba never had much patience did he?

Watching J-Mart ride out of his skull and Jett holding him off multiple times while looking under control impressed the hell out of me.

My favorite battle of the season right here. The way Martin rails that outside berm near the end is unreal, but Jett manages to stay ahead of him somehow.

JMart has the James-like throttle cable stretching, checkers or wreckers all out style.

If you were buying a used bike, would you buy one from JMart or Jett?

We'll never know the answer about those guys, so why bother asking?🤔

Did anyone come from behind and make a pass stick on Jett in the last 24 Motos?
J Mart broke bones trying to.
