Kyle Peters planned his return ride after breaking his wrist at Branson last October, for the first Texas National at Lake Whitney. A first division victory left Peters with a throttle full of confidence but a tangle early in his second race with Honda of Houston rider, Lance Vincent would sit him out once again with a mangled finger. Peters explains his current injury but insures us, he'll be back to settle the score.
IMG_8446Whitney couldn't have started out better for you. You had a first moto division win. You went out for your second moto of the week and next thing we know, you're back on the injured list. Take us through that race.
It was the first lap, I had the hole shot, I was leading when I made a mistake leading into a corner, I knew Lance was coming in really hard, he practically t-boned me and I kind of fell into him. His foot peg caught my finger and ripped it off or something - I don't really know what happened.
Wes was one of the first people to you, and from the sounds of it - it was pretty gnarly.
It was really bad. I got up and didn't really think that much of it until I saw my glove and it was just covered in blood so I called the paramedics over. They started cutting my glove off and my finger was just dangling by skin. That's when I started to freak out.
At least you're all right. Do you think you can rebound from all this bad luck and still have an impressive 2009 season?IMG_8455
I really think I can. I've been living at MTF, Colleen Millsaps has been killing me training and really working me hard. I felt so good coming into Texas. I wanted to win some championships. Everything happens for a reason. It was a dirty move and what goes around comes around. I plan on coming back stronger than ever.
So there's some beef between you and Vincent?
Now there is.
Vincent was the guy who came over to Ansties truck to pick a fight ?

RacerX says Ansie is accruing pro pts, and is Starting Glen Helen.
Hope this helps,

The short and simple version: KTM’s Max Anstie got a drive late in the 250
moto. In front of him was his teammate, Jason Anderson. Coming into the
corner before the whoop section, Max saw an opportunity to make a pass and
he went for it. In doing so the two came together and Anderson went down.
The track officials ruled the move by Max as “unsportsmanlike-like conduct”
and disqualified him from the class.
Back in the KTM pits, an argument broke out between the Anderson’s, Max
Anstie’s dad, Mervyn, and KTM’s team manager, Devin Mitchell. A race
official was on the scene and decided to disqualify Max from the entire
event based on the alleged “actions of his crew.”
Max was never banned from the facility for any period of time, as we
stated in our initial report last Saturday. However, according to the race
promoters, Max’s dad, Mervyn, was asked to leave the facility after a “hit
and run incident” on Sunday where he allegedly ran into one of the Suzuki
support vehicles. Also according to the race promoter, “the police are
handling that incident.”
During an argument in the KTM pits between Devin Mitchell and Darla
Anderson, Devin, who is pregnant, became faint and pale and was attended
to by the track EMT’s. The EMT’s felt that in the best interest of mother
and child, she be airlifted to a hospital in Dallas. At the hospital Devin
was checked out and released around midnight, that night.
The back story to all of this is that Devin and Mervyn have been dating.
KTM became aware of this about two months ago, according to our sources.
Just over two weeks ago KTM found out that Devin was pregnant. Naturally
some of the riders and their families saw this as a conflict of interest
and accused them of giving Max preferential treatment and better bikes. Of
course, the animosity was brewing at Lake Whitney and carried over to Oak
Hill, where it all came to a head, on the track and off.
This is all really a shame as the current KTM team of riders is one of the
best they’ve ever had. Both Anstie and Anderson are topflight racers
destined for factory rides once they graduate into the Pro ranks. As for
the accusations of favoritism; all I can say is that it’s not in the
factories best interest to favor one rider over the other. The factory
wants to win just as bad as the riders do, but at the same time they would
want to give all their riders an equal footing. There are only two guys
(Cody and Leighton) who work on amateur riders motors at KTM. The
likelihood that they would treat one bike as more important than the other
is slim-to-none. I would expect to see some big changes to the KTM Amateur
Program in the near future.
This Just In - MAX ANSTIE IS GOING PRO!
As a result of all the drama over the two weeks in Texas, Max Anstie has
decided to leave the amateur ranks behind and turn Pro. His plans as of
now are to race the season opening round of the AMA Nationals at Glen
Helen. We spotted Max on FaceBook.com and hit him up for a quick
confirmation of the news. Here’s what he had to say.
AMX: Is it true that you are planning on racing the Glen Helen National?
Max: Yepp.
AMX: Congrats! What brought on that decision? I assume you will not be
hitting anymore amateur nationals?
Max: Thanks mate. No, it was just with all the controversy with the
amateur stuff we thought it was time and I was ready. I am racing up at
comp edge tomorrow Loretta qualifier to get my A points.
AMX: Will you be a privateer, or under the KTM tent for the National?
Max: Under the KTM tent.

What it all boils down to is a ton of "he said, she said" from the racetrack, to the pits, to the raceteam, to the confronation that went down. I know everyone involved is over it and just looking forward.
How many pts do you need to race GH , 120?
Post a reply to: So was there ever a follow up on that Oak Hill KTM drama ?
