As our American team was leading MX2 , and running second in MX3 , and with Eli's DNF.......we were possibly looking at having to race the B main. We get 9th gate pick tomorrow , but the weird part is.....with the rides AP and Barcia had , and where Eli was sitting......in the A-mains we may actually have a shot to win?

It's just nuts if you really think about it. Fighting to stay out of the B main , to possibly having a chance to win the overall? And this isn't just team USA , it's for all teams....and how far the whole thing can swing. Nut's how this whole race shapes up every year , and always seems to be a nail biter. Pretty incredible.

TLDR: Our guys had promising rides with some really bad luck and tomorrow might just work out.

Totally! It's a rollercoaster of a ride! The cream usually rises to the top when it's all said and done though!

As Murray Walker used to say, "anything can happen, and it usually does".

Sunday often bears little resemblance to Saturdays results anyway.

Decent gate position in the A final is the only priority really and there's no reason Team USA cant still pull it off.

This really is has become my favorite race of the year... even with the US’s recent finishes. Never know what is gonna happen.

And then of course getting off the actual gate good, regardless of pick e.g Jeffrey (before going down in the first corner). As per the OPs observations; I agree and that's also why people shouldn't read too much into the whole thing in general, or get too worked up. The U.S can win tomorrow, as can France etc. There doesn't necessarily need to be some sort of enquiry if the U.S doesn't win, or vice versa. Team results and individual match-ups can vary tremendously just on the start. A fractionally better start in that last MX3 race and either Barcia or Van Horbeek could've won the race etc.

Gawd dang guys , some times I think I hate this race , and other times it seems I love it. It's almost like a poker game , where luck has something to do with it , plus skill , and then you times that by 3.....and then combine them! I swear if someone in Vegas could duplicate this race , into some kind of card game.....it would be the most insane card game you have ever played. I can't take my eye's off the screen one moment , and the next , I want to throw my remote control through the screen haha! Freakin' nerve racking!

One of the craziest things to me right now is that Eli Tomac, back to back 450 MX champion, is America’s wild card. I’ve got way more faith in Barcia and Plessinger getting their jobs done.

What’s not to love about this race? It ALWAYS throws out some crazy racing, win or lose I watch to be entertained.

No way! This is the highlight every year!

But it is sad that we miss many countries with good riders like bobryshev, pauls jonass, kjel olsen, Gajser etc

Agree! When the wheels fall off for this guy, they fall completely off! Hoping he can gather himself for tomorrow and pull through for the team! and just let all the euros claim they have the fastest motocross guy...

There is no denying JH is a fast mofo

Cairoli mopped the floor today. I dont think herlings would of been able to hang. He did come back from that first lap crash but cairoli was on rails.

LOL -That's how it's supposed be.
Donnington Park 2008 comes to mind.
That last moto when JS7 crashed and Ferry saved the day was epic.
Nerve-racking also lol.

Another one was 2009 in Franciacorta, Italy.
That last moto...
They counted us out for the win and it was up and down the whole moto. lol

Trust me every other year would be ridiculous, think Ryder Cup in golf.
I understand the objections though. So no hard feelings at all.

I am gonna agree with you not because of a knock on Eli but out of a compliment to his competition.

Well, this just proves my point that the Euros are in a class by themselves. Our riders have to spread their selves too thin. And this is the result.

They hyped that up saying USA to B main well before the final moto had started. Barcia could have cruised it in for like 15th and they'd make the A main. The same thing will probably happen tomorrow. It'll look like we have no shot at winning, then all the sudden the final moto comes around and we'll be looking good.

I said in another thread, and yes I'm (we're) biased but I reckon the drama of the last moto is unmatched in not just our sport but all sport!
Fucken absolutely love this race!! Fell in love with it at about 7 years old as soon as I saw pics in ADB magazine of Craig Dack and Glen Bell runnin yellow bibs with matching yellow boots (yellow?? That's Australian gold my friend and don't you forget it) at some exotic track that I could only imagine riding!

I might go next year! Plenty of flat concrete and asphalt at Assen haha

Today’s a totally new day, the slate is clean. Anything can happen. Those that struggled yesterday have an opportunity today to make it right.
