I did not expect the guy to win but I expected much more out of the guy. Would be curious to hear what happened. Dude is better then that.

It appeared his bike had a hard time making triples out of corners.

I can tell you what happened. He passed on the factory bike because the salary was to low and took the pay day with bad equipment.

I thought that as long as a rider is on a Yamaha 250 the bike would not be a problem.... haha.

No but seriously. Who knows what the problem was, that was not good at all. Worse than last year? I guess Mitch did the right thing?

But it was the first race. Things can only get better.

Edit: I just checked the last years opener result, 8th in Atlanta. And the worst race of the season for Bowers was in Toronto were he got 11th.

Bike looked awful. Forkner passed him like he was standing still. He wasn't trippling anything. Should have taken a factory ride but his ego got in the way. Back to AX next year

I don't think it was ego, just probably trying to pay the bills. I don't think that monster girl gig pays as well as people would expect.

Not good enough. He always talks like he is one of the top guys, but had one good season. He finished about where I expected.

He was offered the ride with no salary at all just ride for free type of deal. I don't blame him though, gotta go where the money is. I like bowers and hopefully he can rebound next week.

I agree. And after hearing him on Pulp I thought the exact same thing.

Didn't he say on the PulpMX show that he had an opportunity to go to TLD, or that he had some negotiation with them? But the money wasn't enough for him.

I can't remember witch show it was but probably the latest one that he was in studio for.

Yes, TLD and another "factory" team that I can't recall both made him an offer to ride with no salary, which he refused. It was discussed on Pulp.

Yeah he blew it. If he really was confident in his ability he would have taken the factor bike and made bank in bonuses.

Pretty sure that you're totally mistaken here. From what I remember, during the impromptu "negotiations" that Matthes had with Top Jimmy over a ride for Bowers, Steve said that "they" would take the ride for something like 40-50K plus bonuses for supercross only and Bowers and his wife both gawked at the number because they said it was way too low. Thereafter, Bowers said that he had already turned down a nearly identical offer for a ride from TLD because it was too little. For the sake of reference, the show number for the episode was 268.

The only sure bet is those factory teams are not going to come calling next year and Matthes will still be on his junk

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I actually kinda like that he turned down the lower salary (if that's the case). Riders are never going to get paid more if everyone keeps riding for little to no salary

What am I totally mistaken on? They offered him a small salary?
