How much do I need to do besides it running flawlessly to sell it?

This is an interesting deal that I won't go into, but I'm looking for worth.

Plastic is kinda shot, but the engine is fresh.

I don’t know where to get it, buy fresh plastic except the tank and decals that have the same colour as stock would pay for the investment minimum two fold.

Probably look so good u keep it. I’ve done my bike a few times, freshen up looks so much better.

The 500 market has skyrocketed in the last 6 years or so. Hopefully the seller doesn't realize it. Last month, a clean '96 went for $7k the day after posting it.

Probably better off selling as is. That way the guy who rebuilds it can run his own program.

With that said, some pics will be nice and how much would you want for it "as is"??

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to figure out.
There are a few things I must do, but how much is my conundrum.

I'll get it out and post some pics up.

Closer to stock and original looking sells much easier obviously. I have six KX500s. Listed one for sale in Ca and on here and have had minimal traffic. Except for guys wanting to trade Hondas. And I did basically a frame up rebuild on the bike. Needs nothing. Good luck with your deal. They are fun bikes.

C'mon Karl, just do like everyone else nowadays and put it up on a Facebook sale group page:

Never saw an MX track, but spent a lot of time hauling ass through the woods.

Good luck. I think something to help it sell better would be at least a new number plate.

In my experience that bike as is should be about 2500. Spend a few hours polishing and a few hundred "perfecting" and its around 3500.

Looks fairly clean and original.

Also if you want a tip on the pipe. Remove it, fill a container large enough to fit the pipe with 1-2 gallons of white vinegar and rest water. Let it sit for a day or two and the rust will be gone. I plugged both ends of the pipe to keep the inside dry. Wd40 it immediately after pulling out of the water. Might need a scotch brite pad while it's soaking but youll see the rust basically wipes away.

Heck, it looks pretty good like it is. The stock look of it says that it hasn't been ridden hard. Kudos on the fork boots and no leaking fork seals. X2 on those 46mm forks, dayum good.

A decent K5 of any year is fetching top side of £5000 now, they are indeed very sought after over here.

That thing is barely worth $2500.

That was harsh.
New rear pivots, crank work, top end.
So I dump 200 or so in plastic and another in graphics, now it's a $3,000 motorcycle?

Yeah, I'm thinking about letting the buyer graphic it.
