Slick Products/ProGlow Wash worth the extra $$?

Edited Date/Time 3/23/2021 9:46am
I've always been a Simple Green or Simple Green plus Dawn guy, are the motorsports-specific washes worth the money?
Also has anyone tried the Eagle Grit Powersports Wash?

Mr Clean works best for me. Simple green second. I tried the Slick stuff and hated it.

Same. TBH, I might as well have washed with water only for all the good the slick stuff did.

That's what I was afraid of!
Stuff is so expensive, it better come with a TWMX pinup to help with the wash.
Sounds like I'll stick to my methods or maybe try the Eagle Grit because it's much cheaper.
Thanks for the info guys.

I’d have given it a better review if it came with the pinup, lol

Simple Green 50:50. Tried Shout at 100%. Don’t know what those guys are talking about. But in the south with the red clay. Shout was useless to me. Simple Green is the only thing that works. Literally watch the red clay melt away. Don’t know how, but it’s amazing.

Hose off all the big chunks. Spray down entire bike with Simple Green 50:50 mix. Then hose again with garden hose. And spotless. I don’t let it sit. I don’t use pressure washer.

I've ridden in that red clay and it sure does a number on riding gear.
Shout works great on the dirt out west but so does Simple Green and Mr Clean

Am I one of the only people left still using a mitt and scrubbing the crap out of everything by hand?

Nope, me too man. I mix simple green and dawn in my bucket, rinse off the big chunks. Let it sit a bit, then rinse off more and then go to town with a brush and mitt with my soap mix. Has worked for me, which is why I was wondering how they are selling these new "dedicated" powersports washes for SO MUCH money.

I havent had any issues with simple green choroding/decaying my aluminum fasters. I use everything. Pressure washer, spray bottle, brush, rag. On the on super detailing days, ill use an old toothbrush. Ill spend 2-3 hours cleaning it. Only in the summer when its 60+ or else I get cold lol

Same, I've never had Simple Green etch anything. I feel like Castrol Super Clean is the one I've heard attacks bare metal.

In the SE, we have this stuff, Formula 88

I think Home Depot carries it

Good shit.
I know many companies have used this as their base.

Dilute it down by about half and it works well, adjust to your local needs

It's been around for decades. It's made in a warehouse in western Miami.

Tried Superclean on my Honda. That stuff ducked all my aluminum. Never again.

50/50 mix and Rinse it off, it can't etch if it's not on the AluminumSmile I wouldn't squirt on and come back a few days later as it would probably etch.

I like Hondabrite(S100) well enough. And their spray polisher/cleaner is an awesome product.

The old Honda Polish was good. Really good. The gold standard.
The present stuff sucks.

I’ve given muc off a shot to support them now that they are a big sponsor. Little expensive but it seems to work very well. I buy the concentrate and it makes 4 liters

Don't wash in direct sunlight and don't let it sit on there until it dries. Keep it wet until you rinse it off.

Shout is still the shit for me, though I was high and dry for a little over a month on it. I couldn't find it anywhere! Sam's club, Walmart, Publix, and walgreens were all out. Stopped at a rundown CVS in the hood the other day for a candy bar and found 4 spray bottles, bought them all! Maxima Bio-Wash was my substitute during the shout drought.

Simple Green works better than anything but it will turn your red anodized bits pink. I would spray it on, scrub it, and hose it right off, but it still faded anodized color over time. Haven't had the problem since I switched to Dawn and Shout. I never tried diluting Simple Green.

On the bright side it faded a set of my Chris King MTB hubs from black to a purpleish gunmetal color that is actually pretty cool.

Motul Motowash is my #1 and the Yamalube Bike wash would be my 2nd choice. The motowash works fantastic with no scrubbing required and it doesn't fade plastic, aluminum and graphics like simple green tends to do.

Been using shout for years. No complaints. I want to try ProGlow since the company is here in Texas but I couldn't find a spot to buy it on their websites yesterday.

Someone mentioned muc off, now I'm interested in trying that. I've never used shout on my cars and trucks, I suppose I could, but I'd like to try something that gives back to the sport on everything.

This is basically why I asked the question, I wanted to throw some money at the companies who are spending ad dollars in our sport. Unfortunately it sounds like those products aren't great.

It's not that they aren't great. Muc-Off is really good stuff, I just can't justify the money vs something like shout.

The other reason I asked. Simple Green is $10 a gallon (at most) and Dawn is a couple dollars. Hard to spend 5-10x that for some of these specialty products.

Has anyone tried the Eagle Grit one?
