Had a few days downtime and then was sent to a hand therapist to get a splint made up and to start doing some exercises for my thumb.
Ended up taking about a month off work before getting back into it steadily, I’m a carpenter so work with my hands all day but it wasn’t to bad just had to be careful with what I was doing. If it started to ache or I did something to aggravate it I just put my splint back on to look after it a bit more.
At my age of 67 my wife is asking me if I am
Getting back out on the track since I just started Mx last year! She wants me to get more life insurance 🤠
I have just started getting the referral process to see orthopedic doctor am in Medicare switched it to a hmo plan so you have to get referrals from primary doctor! Just want to get it repaired ASAP! Hopefully see specialist next week! Anyways thanks for the input! I’m trying to be positive...
Thanks y’all
Hopefully you can get it fixed soon mate and back out on the track!

Thanks again warren
Thanks for your input 🤠
Let it heal and it’s been fine ever since.
I’m thinking it was a couple months. But I’ve always been one to subscribe to letting things heal properly because you only have one chance at that
It'll get me still if I pick something up funny (like a backpack gets hooked on my thumb).
I'm currently healing a mallet injury (first knuckle) on my left thumb with a duct tape splint.
I've done knees, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and ankles - thumb injuries are worst!
Everyone is different, listen to your ortho IF you trust them and they have your best interest in mind.
Mine just happened two weeks ago I’ve read on Net that it’s best to have surgery within 3-4 weeks but sounds like its a waiting game to get it done ! I went to hospital when it happened they put splint on ..swelling has gone and pain not bad unless I try to bend to far ...have been riding my road bike 🚴♂️
Kinda one handed ...a friend of mine never had it repaired he said it doesn’t bother him
But looks a bit strange to be able to bend thumb in reverse ! Keep us posted on your recovery 👍 Thanks for the input warren

Since incurring I’ve been on net and watching YouTube videos 🤠 my wife has been patient...
First Dr did x-rays and said it's not broken. I said yep I already told you that. I've broken 14 bones, I know the difference.
Refused to let him "treat" me so I went to a different Dr. He also told me it wasn't broken. I felt like I took my Ford to the dealer and they said "that's not an airplane." Doctors need to listen to their patients, especially ones with extensive injury history, we tend to know what's going on with our bodies.
He subscribed PT with NO IMMOBILIZATION. I had to do it (longer story). Finally got an MRI by June, and wow look at that a torn ligament I told them about 3 months earlier.
First ortho recommended surgery and it got denied. He gave up. Second ortho recommended surgery and she got denied. Twice. Finally after MANY phone calls the surgery was approved. She got in there and was able to stitch it back without pulling from another finger.
Bottom line is don't take all doctors words as gospel especially if you know something is wrong.
The PT definitely did more damage. I've done nothing for nearly a year. No riding. No golf. Nothing that could raise the risk of injuring it more than daily activities.
Actually another cycling friend waited too long and they used ligament from index finger but he says it was full recovery! 🚴♂️
I'm wondering can you know if tendon snaps again inside non-removable cast?
Haven't felt anything, no pain, just a bit neurotic as it wouldnt be fun to have hand casted for six weeks just to find out it has been snapped again🫣
Wiggling it carefully inside cast feels about normal...three weeks left
