What to expect. I raced d37 dessert.. big 6.
What's the competition like. Is everybody going to be rolling the finish line jump. Or is it a bunch of has beens -like me-. Doing something over there head.

I won't be doing 90 foot tripples . But can hold my own elsewhere.

I rode the Amateur day at the San Diego Supercross in 2003. They had removed the big triples and cut down the whoops. Even so, it was a difficult track to ride, and there were several sections where I lost MASSIVE amounts of time because I simply couldn't do the rhythms. I was a 125 Intermediate/Vet Intermediate at the time.

It looks like the receipt you have reads "Full size Supercross track." I don't know if it will be modified for safety the way San Diego was in '03, but here's what to expect if it is. If not, expect it to be even harder:

The start will be very short. Get your starts on point! Consider 1st gear starts if it's dirt. If they use the metal grate I can't advise you because I've never started from one. Just be ready to leap out of the gate and move over on people. (Or be prepared to get moved over on.)

Use outside lines when you can. The rhythms often require speed to navigate, and most times you cannot make the first jump from the inside line. You'll be rolling the whole lane after that.

There may be some things you can't clear even from the outside. The year I rode, there was a short chicane-style section with a 180-degree left followed immediately by a steep single/table/single combo, then an immediate 180 right and the same single/table/single combo, followed by a 90 degree left. The fast line was to hop on and off the tables, but I saw 100+ people clip the second single and go over the bars into the berm. Lots of injuries that way. I just couldn't see me doing it clean every lap, so I rolled it. Sad Slow.

Gear your bike for acceleration. You won't need much top speed. I had outdoor gearing on and I could barely use 3rd gear.

Good luck!

Mellow track but a tight track. I remember the Phoenix one last year being super sketched out going two wide through sections

I’m in as well, hopefully they actually make the track a little difficult because all the ones I saw last year looked super easy. I’ll be in 125 B/C and 250C.

thank you all for the replies. Can someone linkeme a YouTube I don't know if it used to be called something else but I'm just seeing a bunch of little 65cc features YouTube videos. I can jump nearly any public motocross track jump with exception of razorback triples. So I hope it's kind of dumb down since I spent the last 7 years with no riding and haven't raced since. I did Carnage mx. That was super relaxed. A boring track. I live in San Francisco now.

When we did atlanta two years back, there were some 50's jumping every jump on the track. It was the lamest track ever for anyone above a D rider in my opinion. Hopefully they are better now

Carnage will be nothing like a SX track . You may go up to Marysville and run MMX. Not saying that is a SX track but it’s more in line with what you will be running . Sand hill and what ever it’s called now club Moto ? On the side of freeway in Livermore . Are not as jumpy . There will be some fast guys for sure .

You'll be fine man!!, I'll be racing the 35plus and 40plus class in Oakland .... look forward to racing with ya. I have a friend coming with me that will be racing these classes also. I haven't done an amateur day SX yet but I have raced AX the last 20 years and every year I leave with a smile. Primo dirt makes it worth the entry fee.

See ya in January!

Yep, the result against a bunch of new Ktm/huskys is not going to be favorable?. I’ll look great through the corners though. . .

Does the race really matter though? As long as you win practice, that's all that really matters.

MFer’s are gonna be littered around that course after I take to the track first practice. Kenny might think his ride is secure but one ol’ Tajeki Honda sees how dominant I am in the warm up sessions they’ll probably call me up to race with the big boys the next week. Tomac is gonna get arm pump and Marvin is gonna pop an ACL just watching me turn laps.

There is some irony in a vet class at 'Supercross futures" isn't there?

Thank You all.. On a side note.. I'm used to vital mx and proride.com// district 37 forums..

Other then BARF forums, and south bay riders.. what other discussion forms are there... Is this it in california? I'm looking to get back into racing-- guess its d36 territory ,,, but the d36 forums are crickets.. Makes me want to move back to socal

and now it makes sense.. This is areana cross now.. That explains the lack of youtube 2017 videos on youtube.. lol.. They need to fix the website to train newbies like me......

Hmm... a semi-local SX with a wide range of vet class talent, and my RM250 itching for some throttle.
