The Kawi looks like an awesome package all around, would love to ride one. As far as the Honda goes I’ll at least be waiting until 22 or 23 to see if they work the ECU and some of the other issues out. In no hurry to ditch my 17

The ECU issue isnt as bad as what is made out, try one yourself to see, anyway easy to fix via Twisted Development

So many complaints for a bike 10% of the people commenting have ridden. And it’s not a clutch cable anymore it’s a clutch line. Hydraulic and such. The ecu issue ain’t an issue as big as it’s cracked up to be. After putting 5 hours on mine you don’t even notice any issues you ride above it in low speed corners by shifting to 2nd.. The bike is fast. Handles well with proper springs for your weight and feels very light. Ride one before you cry about some trivial bs. No bike is perfect. I had a 17 and did all the mods to make it compliant. Chassis still sucked. The 21’ doesn’t need any major tuning to work and the 17-20 twitch is gone. I’ll take a better handling Honda all day and deal with minor stuff that I’m going to change anyway.

Finally rode mine about a week ago. I'm drinking beer with my dad in Florida right now, so excuse the grammar and tone. first thing, I have to do suspension on every bike no matter what, so it's not a factor to me. Second, IMHO the ECU mapping "issue" is WAY overblown. Is it there? Yes. It is also absolutely nowhere near as bad as my carbed 2007 CRF 450 was stock. I've been riding the same tracks with both bikes over the last 13 years. Sea level in delaware to breezewood PA. I had to put an aftermarket airscrew, jd jet kit and a powershot on my 07 to make it clean. I venture it was prob more time, hassle and expense than a twisted remap for this 21. Pretty sure I'll never be changing my pilot jet trackside in the mountains of PA when it gets over 95 degrees. With that out of the way, this bike is much better in several ways than my 17 crf I just sold. It is slimmer, tracks better stock, and has way more adjustability with the longer fork tubes. I set sag, changed the bar position and broke it in. Never got to really twist it, but the motor is very smooth and builds predictably to the half throttle I got to hit on day one. I dropped the forks 2 mm, put on +5mm clamps and gotta say, this bike felt as great in the rough stuff as it did just dropping into rutted turns. I was very surprised I got to that level of comfort on day one. The bar bend is good, but they are stiff as a board coming from my odi cft bars, I'll be changing them out when I get home. It was either stick with Honda or go back to green after 20 years, I'm happy I waited for the bike so far. Agree with what Nick said above, the twitchiness is gone. This bike is a better baseline than my 17 after suspension work and a new link.

IT, is exactly what it is made out to be. Nothing more, nothing less. You sound like you are trying to downplay it.

To make matters worse map 1 is locked so if it does not work good for you, are limited to 2 maps.

Ask Honda, they sell you 3 and many feel none of them work right.

You’re absolutely right, the 2017 chassis can be very shitty. I’m glad to hear they fixed it!

Stock graphics really look good. All this bike needs is a trim kit to look factory fresh.

Dirt tricks sprocket, is that an x ring chain? Can't tell where you got your graphics from but I like the number font.

If they trickle everything down to the 250 for 2022 I am buying the first one available, don’t care what the shootouts say. No bike has ever looked better, and I bet they will spring and map the 250 correctly.

My customers riding the bikes are not sending the ECU anywhere. They are fine with it. May be their riding style. I was told that the bikes got a flash update while they were sitting in the warehouse before they got shipped to dealers. I was also told that you would not see any kind of recall.

If the bikes got a re-flash why are the new owners reporting problems(not saying yours are)? A high percentage are experiencing issues. If they re-flashed part of the bikes before they left the warehouse what about the ones that got out before the flash?

wow, are you dumb? CLEARLY if some got out of the warehouse before the flash then they may have the minor issue on one of the maps.... duh!!!!!

I guess its convenient fo you to ignore the positive comments of real owners in this thread and focus on the negative ones .... sucks to be you

When 60-80% of owners agree there is an issue you still can't see it? Who is dumb? How are you coming up with only 1 map having an issue?

Even most of the owners who have positive comments still seem to think there is an issue. I can tell you what sucks is being a kool-aid drinker.

This 2021 CRF450 went full internet stupid.

Rules of internet motocrossing:
-The people that chirp the loudest about a bikes/gear/products downfalls have never rode/tried the product.
-99% of people that post 2 stroke memes have never done a lap riding one on the pipe
-The people that comment on bike releases bitching about how much bikes cost wont/couldnt buy them is the cost was half.
-Energy drink logos = horsepower.

With all that out of the way. I will state what I have told 100+ people in person since getting my 21 crf450 October 3rd. 10+ rides on it. I KNOW WHEN A HONDA NEEDS RE-MAPPED - THIS BIKE DOES NOT. Owning new 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2019 bikes... ALL REMAPED except the 2019 due to various flame out, flat tops, rich bottoms. I was truly disappointed how bad all those previous fuel injected bike were - blatant issues on any track. 2019 was the first I didnt remap - thing just absolutely ripped.

The 21 has none of those problems. Haven't even stalled it yet. 10+ full track days on it. Suspension is great, Pro-Action pretty much did exact to my 2019. The bike is so unbelievably rideable with great power. Doesnt rip your arms off out of turn if you dont want it to. Insanely fast if you want to keep twisting the throttle. NOONE IS REMAPPING MY HONDA - TOUCH IT AND DIE!

That is all.
